What people actually asked

We asked for slab leak repair in four different ways. Here is each one, word for word, with how many of the 338 answers it produced between September 7 and October 14, 2026:

  • “Who should I call for slab leak repair in 33713?”94 answers
  • “I need slab leak repair tomorrow morning — I'm in 33772. Who can actually come out?”88 answers, asked with five different timings: first thing tomorrow, tomorrow morning, within the next few hours, today and tonight
  • “I'm looking to get slab leak repair done in 33770 before the end of the month. Who should I get quotes from?”80 answers, asked with five different timings: before the end of the month, in two weeks, sometime this month, in the next few weeks and next month
  • “Slab leak repair near me — I'm in 33755. Who do you recommend?”76 answers

Together, the 338 answers covered eight towns in Pinellas County: Clearwater, Tarpon Springs, Dunedin, Largo, Palm Harbor, Pinellas Park, Seminole and St. Petersburg. Each town came up in 42 to 43 answers. By assistant: ChatGPT 136, Claude 106 and Google AI Mode 96.

Customers also call it “foundation leak repair”, so use those words on the page as well.

The question underneath all of them

“How will you explain the proposed repair and its effect on the property?” The repair method, access work and restoration boundary need a clear proposal.

What your slab leak repair page has to explain

Many slab leak companies are mainly leak finders. Assistants often found a company that advertised detection and could not tell whether it also did the repair. Answers told customers to ask whether the same company fixes the pipe or hands the job to someone else. A page that says plainly who does each step saves the customer a second search and a second visit.

The repair itself takes several forms. Answers named a spot repair through the slab, rerouting the line through the walls or attic, and repiping. Each one changes the cost and how much of the house is opened. Assistants told customers to ask which method a plumber recommends and why. The page should explain how that choice is made and when each method fits.

The work does not end at the pipe. Answers asked who patches the concrete, the flooring and any drywall, and whether that is in the price. Many also mentioned homeowner's insurance and a written scope an insurer can read. The page has to draw the line between the plumbing repair and the restoration, and say who handles each part.

What the assistants couldn’t find

In 52 of the 338 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 51 of its 106, ChatGPT in 0 of its 136 and Google AI Mode in 1 of its 96. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:

  • A phone number or other way to reach the company: 24 answers
  • Reviews it could check: 22 answers
  • When the company could do the work: 13 answers
  • A license or insurance it could check: 11 answers
  • Whether the company serves the customer’s town or ZIP code: 5 answers
  • A price or how the job is priced: 4 answers

Assistants most often could not find a phone number or independent reviews for slab leak companies. Many also could not tell whether a company did the repair or only found the leak, which a page can settle in one sentence.

The search results were mostly the companies' own descriptions, not independent reviews, so I can't say who is best.

Where the assistants sent people

Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 242 ChatGPT and Claude answers about slab leak repair, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:

  • A contractor’s own website: 100% (241 answers)
  • A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 29% (69 answers)
  • An official license lookup: 7% (18 answers)
  • A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 4% (9 answers)
  • A Google search or Maps page: under 1% (1 answer)

A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read.

Google AI Mode works differently. In 76% of its 96 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Your slab leak repair page checklist

Work through this list on your slab leak repair page. Each item answers something the assistants looked for above.

  1. Use “slab leak repair” or “foundation leak repair” in the page title, the main heading and the first paragraph.
  2. Describe how you locate the leak and confirm its position before any floor or concrete is opened.
  3. Explain each repair method you offer, when you recommend it, and how you present the options before work starts.
  4. State what restoration is included, where your work stops, and who handles flooring or finishes beyond that point.
  5. Say what records you provide after a slab leak repair, such as a written scope and photos, without promising what any policy covers.
  6. State the detection fee, or how it is set, and whether it counts toward the repair.
  7. Say whether you both locate and repair the leak yourselves, and name any step that goes to another company.
  8. Show one phone number on the slab leak page and say who answers it.
  9. Link to your recent reviews and point to ones from slab leak jobs.
  10. Say how soon a detection visit can happen and how quickly a repair usually follows.

Going further: let assistants see real openings

For planned work like slab leak repair, a useful opening says whether it is for an assessment or the job itself, and whether the customer’s address is covered.

Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.

We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

Questions owners ask

How do plumbers find a slab leak without breaking up the floor?

Answers about this job mentioned electronic, acoustic and thermal equipment used to pinpoint the leak before any concrete is cut. Assistants told customers to ask how a plumber locates the leak, so the page should describe the method and what the customer sees before the floor is opened.

Is it better to repair a slab leak in place or reroute the pipe?

It depends on the house and the pipe. Answers listed a spot repair through the slab, rerouting the line through the walls or attic, and repiping. Assistants told customers to ask which one a plumber recommends and why, so the page should explain when each method fits.

Does a slab leak repair price include fixing the floor?

Often it does not. Assistants told customers to ask whether the price covers patching the concrete, the flooring and any drywall, or only the pipe. The page should state what restoration is included, where the plumbing work stops and who handles the rest.

How we got these numbers

The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 338 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between September 7 and October 14, 2026. We asked for slab leak repair in eight towns in Pinellas County, Florida. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.

The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
