The question underneath all of them
“Which HVAC company is really here in Largo, and what will the visit cost?” Answers noted which companies had a Largo or 33770 address, then told customers to check the license and the diagnostic fee.
What your Largo HVAC page has to explain
Most questions here named the ZIP code 33770 or asked for a company near me. Answers often replied by noting which companies were Largo-based or located right in that ZIP code. A company that serves Largo from a nearby town can still be named, but its page has to say so plainly. Name Largo, the ZIP codes you serve and where your trucks start from.
Several answers said most Largo homes run heat pumps or air handlers with electric heat strips rather than gas furnaces. They told customers asking about furnace or boiler work to first ask whether the company services their type of system. A Largo HVAC page should say which systems the company works on, and which it does not, in the words a homeowner would use.
Cost came up across the jobs asked here, from a tune-up to a full AC replacement. Assistants told customers to ask for the diagnostic fee, whether it is credited toward the repair, and any after-hours charge before a technician comes out. For a replacement, they wanted a written quote listing the permit, removal of the old unit and the labor warranty. The page should explain how each of these is priced.
What the assistants looked for before recommending anyone
We read all 1,317 answers to see what the assistants looked for before naming a company for HVAC work in Largo, FL, what they told the customer to ask, and what they said they couldn’t find.
What the assistants told customers to ask
Most common first:
Is the company actually in Largo or the customer’s ZIP code?
Answers about Largo often said when a company was Largo-based or located right in the customer’s ZIP code. When a company was based elsewhere, assistants told customers to confirm it served Largo directly before booking.
43% of the answers (569 of 1,317) brought this up.
Confirm they service Largo directly and ask for a fixed quote for a standard maintenance visit before booking.
Can the customer check the license number?
Many answers told customers to get the company’s Florida HVAC license number and look it up on the state’s DBPR site before work began. Some also pointed to Pinellas County’s contractor search and asked for proof of insurance.
21% of the answers (271 of 1,317) brought this up.
Ask for a licensed technician's certificate number and confirm they're insured — Florida requires state HVAC licensing.
What is the diagnostic fee, and does it count toward the repair?
For Largo repairs, assistants told customers to ask for the diagnostic or service-call fee up front. They also told them to ask whether that fee is credited toward the repair if the customer goes ahead.
13% of the answers (174 of 1,317) brought this up.
Ask whether the diagnostic fee is applied to the repair if you go ahead.
What does a replacement quote include?
For a new system, answers told customers to compare quotes line by line. They asked whether each quote covered the permit, removal of the old unit, duct or electrical work, and a load calculation rather than a simple size match.
11% of the answers (142 of 1,317) brought this up.
Ask whether the quote includes a permit, removal of the old unit, and any duct or electrical work.
Is there an after-hours or weekend charge?
Many Largo questions asked for help today, tonight or on a weekend. Assistants told customers to ask for the after-hours or emergency fee before the company sent anyone, since it often costs more than a daytime visit.
9% of the answers (116 of 1,317) brought this up.
Ask for the after-hours/emergency trip fee upfront before they dispatch, since it's typically higher than daytime rates.
Does the company work on this home’s type of system?
Answers about furnace, boiler and heat pump work in Largo told customers to ask whether the company services their exact system or brand. Several said many Largo homes have a heat pump or electric heat instead of a gas furnace.
5% of the answers (64 of 1,317) brought this up.
Ask each company what fits your home, and whether you have gas service, since that decides whether a true furnace is an option.
What the assistants couldn’t find
In 188 of the 1,317 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 176 of its 457, ChatGPT in 12 of its 545 and Google AI Mode in 0 of its 315. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:
- A phone number or other way to reach the company: 97 answers
- Reviews it could check: 43 answers
- When the company could do the work: 33 answers
- A license or insurance it could check: 15 answers
- A price or how the job is priced: 14 answers
- Whether the company serves the customer’s town or ZIP code: 14 answers
- A warranty: 3 answers
Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 176 of its 457 answers about Largo (39%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Largo in 14 (3%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 39% and 4% for HVAC.
In Largo, assistants most often could not find a phone number, and often could not verify reviews or say who could come out soon. Largo is one of the largest towns in this research, and its gaps look like theirs. A Largo HVAC page can answer all three with a working number, links to current reviews and how soon a technician can come.
I couldn't confirm current phone numbers for most of these, so use each company's website to reach them.
Where the assistants sent people
Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 1,002 ChatGPT and Claude answers about HVAC work in Largo, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:
- A contractor’s own website: 97% (975 answers)
- A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 51% (511 answers)
- A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 17% (169 answers)
- An official license lookup: 6% (62 answers)
- A Google search or Maps page: under 1% (6 answers)
A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read.
Google AI Mode works differently. In 66% of its 315 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Going further: let assistants see real openings
For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?
Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.
We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

How should my HVAC company show it serves Largo?

Should a Largo HVAC page list the diagnostic fee?
Assistants regularly told Largo customers to ask for the diagnostic fee and whether it counts toward the repair before booking. Stating the fee, or how it is set, answers that question on the page. Add any after-hours or weekend charge too, since customers were told to ask about that as well.
Does a Largo HVAC page need to mention heat pumps?

How we got these numbers
The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 1,317 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between September 2 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Largo or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.
The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
