The question underneath all of them
“Which contractor is really local to Pinellas Park, and not just a page made for the city?” In all four trades, answers noted which contractors were located right in Pinellas Park and set aside pages that looked like lead-generation sites.
What your Pinellas Park page has to explain
Most questions here named 33781. Answers often described a contractor as located right in Pinellas Park, or based nearby in St. Petersburg, Largo or Clearwater. Few said no one served the town. A Pinellas Park page should say where the company sits and list every ZIP code it serves in the city, not just 33781.
Answers in every trade warned about listings that looked local but were not. Assistants described lead-generation pages that spin up a copy for every city and route calls to whoever pays. They left those out or told customers to ask who would actually come. A real Pinellas Park page should give a street address, a local number and the name of the company doing the work.
The city came up by name. Plumbing answers sent customers to the City of Pinellas Park water division about service lines and backflow rules, and some said permits go through the city building department. Roofing and electrical answers mentioned wind mitigation and the papers insurers ask for. A Pinellas Park page should say who handles permits and what records the customer receives.

Who pulls the permit, and with whom?

What the assistants couldn’t find
In 835 of the 5,686 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 770 of its 1,955, ChatGPT in 55 of its 2,362 and Google AI Mode in 10 of its 1,369. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:
- A phone number or other way to reach the company: 448 answers
- Reviews it could check: 188 answers
- When the company could do the work: 157 answers
- A license or insurance it could check: 117 answers
- A price or how the job is priced: 94 answers
- Whether the company serves the customer’s town or ZIP code: 50 answers
- A warranty: 14 answers
Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 770 of its 1,955 answers about Pinellas Park (39%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Pinellas Park in 50 (3%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 40% and 4%.
Across trades, a missing phone number was the gap assistants hit most in Pinellas Park, followed by reviews, timing and license details. A local number, linked reviews, a usual arrival time and a license number cover all four.
Where the assistants sent people
Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 4,317 ChatGPT and Claude answers about home services in Pinellas Park, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:
- A contractor’s own website: 95% (4,120 answers)
- A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 56% (2,435 answers)
- A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 20% (862 answers)
- An official license lookup: 9% (406 answers)
- A Google search or Maps page: under 1% (23 answers)
A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read.
Google AI Mode works differently. In 71% of its 1,369 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Going further: let assistants see real openings
For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?
Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.
We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

How we got these numbers
The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 5,686 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between September 2 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Pinellas Park or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.
The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
