The question underneath all of them
“Which Clearwater HVAC company is close by, licensed and clear about what a visit costs?” Answers sorted Clearwater HVAC companies by where they sat, often near 33755, then asked about the diagnostic fee, the tune-up checklist and the replacement quote.
What your Clearwater HVAC page has to explain
Clearwater is one of the largest towns in this research, and its HVAC answers look much like the others. Coverage was seldom the issue. Most questions named 33755, and answers often said which companies were Clearwater-based or sat right in that ZIP code. Some also noted how long a company had served Clearwater. Assistants checked a company’s own page for the town name and told customers to confirm when it was missing.
Maintenance questions drew detailed answers. Assistants told customers to ask for the tune-up checklist: coil cleaning, drain line clearing, capacitor testing and refrigerant readings. Some warned that a low-priced tune-up can be a way to sell repairs, and said to get any repair advice in writing. Plan prices were rarely published, so assistants told customers to ask.
Some jobs asked about here are uncommon in Clearwater homes, such as boilers, gas furnaces, evaporative coolers and humidifiers. Answers said most homes here run heat pumps or air handlers. They told customers to ask whether a company has really done the job before. A Clearwater HVAC page should name the systems the company services, including the unusual ones.

What the assistants couldn’t find
In 185 of the 1,309 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 177 of its 451, ChatGPT in 7 of its 545 and Google AI Mode in 1 of its 313. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:
- A phone number or other way to reach the company: 106 answers
- Reviews it could check: 45 answers
- When the company could do the work: 27 answers
- Whether the company serves the customer’s town or ZIP code: 18 answers
- A price or how the job is priced: 17 answers
- A license or insurance it could check: 13 answers
Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 177 of its 451 answers about Clearwater (39%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Clearwater in 18 (4%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 39% and 4% for HVAC.
In Clearwater, assistants most often could not find a phone number, and next could not verify reviews or say who had a technician free. These gaps look like those in the other large towns. A Clearwater HVAC page can close them with a working number, links to recent reviews and typical wait times.
The search results didn't give me verified phone numbers for most of them, so use the links to get current contact details and hours.
Where the assistants sent people
Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 996 ChatGPT and Claude answers about HVAC work in Clearwater, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:
- A contractor’s own website: 97% (970 answers)
- A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 48% (482 answers)
- A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 14% (135 answers)
- An official license lookup: 7% (66 answers)
- A Google search or Maps page: 7% (65 answers)
A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read.
Google AI Mode works differently. In 76% of its 313 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Going further: let assistants see real openings
For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?
Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.
We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

Questions owners ask
How should my HVAC company show it serves Clearwater?
Answers about Clearwater often said when a company was Clearwater-based or located in the customer’s ZIP code. Give your address if it is in Clearwater, list the ZIP codes you serve, and name the town on the page itself, since assistants checked for it.
Should a Clearwater HVAC page list the tune-up checklist?
Yes, if you offer tune-ups or plans. Assistants told Clearwater customers to ask exactly what a tune-up checks and warned that a cheap one may be a sales visit. Listing the checklist and the price answers both questions on the page.
Should my Clearwater page mention boilers or other uncommon systems?
Only if you work on them. Answers said boilers, gas furnaces and evaporative coolers are uncommon in Clearwater homes. They told customers to ask whether a company has real experience with that system. Naming the systems you service lets the customer check before calling.

How we got these numbers
The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 1,309 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between September 2 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Clearwater or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.
The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
