Who AI assistants recommend for home services in Riverview, FL

The short answer

Their doubts were elsewhere: whether a company did the exact job, whether its reviews were independent, and which phone number to call.

The question underneath all of them
“Which contractor serving Riverview can show it does my job and has real reviews?” So far only HVAC jobs were asked about in Riverview, and assistants found people serving the town but not proof of the job or of the reviews.
What your Riverview page has to explain
Riverview’s sample is small and covers one trade so far. Riverview has no plumbing, electrical or roofing questions in it yet. In the HVAC answers, Riverview itself was rarely the problem. Assistants named companies that listed Riverview, some with a Riverview address, and others from Tampa or Brandon. For a statewide firm, they told the customer to ask whether it reached Riverview.
What held answers back was proof. Assistants often said a company’s page did not mention the requested work, or that its ratings came from its own site and could not be checked. Some listings had no reviews at all. A Riverview page that names each job done in town and links to reviews on an outside site answers both doubts.
The checks they gave customers fit any trade. Answers told people to get written estimates from two or three contractors, check the Florida license and insurance, and ask who pulls the permit and arranges the inspection. A contractor’s Riverview page can state its answer to each one.
What the assistants looked for before recommending anyone
We read all 28 answers to see what the assistants looked for before naming a company for home services in Riverview, FL, what they told the customer to ask, and what they said they couldn’t find.
What the assistants told customers to ask
Most common first:
Can a Riverview customer confirm the license and insurance?
Assistants told Riverview customers to ask for the contractor’s license number and proof of insurance, and to check the Florida license before booking. This advice came up often in answers that could not vouch for reviews.
61% of the answers (17 of 28) brought this up.
Ask for their license number and proof of insurance.
Does the contractor list Riverview, or come from Tampa?
Answers named contractors that listed Riverview, a few with an address in town. When a firm was statewide or based in Tampa, they told customers to confirm it served Riverview.
50% of the answers (14 of 28) brought this up.
I couldn't confirm that it serves Riverview, so ask.
Who arranges the permit and the inspection in Riverview?
For install jobs, answers told customers to ask whether permits and inspections were included and who would arrange them. They listed this with the written quote.
43% of the answers (12 of 28) brought this up.
Ask for proof of liability insurance and whether they pull the permit.
Can the customer compare written estimates?
Assistants told customers to collect written estimates from two or three contractors. For bigger jobs, they wanted each estimate to spell out the material, labor and warranty.
43% of the answers (12 of 28) brought this up.
Ask for written estimates from two or three companies.
Are the reviews on a site the company does not control?
Answers often could not find independent reviews and treated ratings on a company’s own site with caution. When a listing had none, they told customers to ask for references.
29% of the answers (8 of 28) brought this up.
The listing showed no reviews yet, so ask for references.
What the assistants couldn’t find
In 12 of the 28 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 12 of its 12, ChatGPT in 0 of its 11 and Google AI Mode in 0 of its 5. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:
- A phone number or other way to reach the company: 8 answers
- Reviews it could check: 7 answers
Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 12 of its 12 answers about Riverview (100%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Riverview in 1 (8%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 40% and 4%.
For a contractor that serves Riverview, the gaps are fixable on the page. Assistants rarely doubted that someone covered the town. They most often could not find a phone number they trusted, reviews they could check, or proof of the exact job.
I couldn't confirm reviews for most of these, so treat this as a shortlist to call, not a firm recommendation.
Where the assistants sent people
Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 23 ChatGPT and Claude answers about home services in Riverview, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:
- A contractor’s own website: 96% (22 answers)
- A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 35% (8 answers)
- A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 30% (7 answers)
- An official license lookup: 17% (4 answers)
A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read.
Google AI Mode works differently. In 80% of its 5 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Going further: let assistants see real openings
For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?
Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.
We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

How we got these numbers
The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 28 answers Claude, ChatGPT and Google AI Mode gave between October 9 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Riverview or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.
The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
