Who AI assistants recommend for home services in St. Leo, FL
We asked ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode for home services in St. Leo, FL recommendations 29 times. Here is what the St. Leo answers show, and why they come from HVAC questions alone.
The short answer
This is a small sample, and every question here was about HVAC work. Even so, the answers show what assistants met in St. Leo: almost no company that named the town, directory listings for a related job rather than the one asked about, and few phone numbers. They turned to nearby Pasco towns and told customers to confirm coverage.

The question underneath all of them
“Does any contractor list St. Leo as a place it works, or will I be calling someone from the next town over?” Only HVAC questions were asked about St. Leo, and in them assistants seldom found a company that named St. Leo or 33574.
What your St. Leo page has to explain
The research asked about St. Leo only for HVAC jobs, and only a small number of times. So this page cannot say what assistants found for St. Leo plumbers, electricians or roofers. What it can show is how assistants handled a town with little listed for it. They searched, found few pages that named St. Leo, and said so.
Where they found anything, it was often a directory listing. Assistants noted that a listing filed a company under one job, such as humidifiers or duct cleaning, when the customer asked about another. They also said some ratings they saw came from pages about other cities. They told customers to treat these names as leads to check, not endorsements.
The nearby towns did most of the work in these answers. Assistants named companies from Dade City, Zephyrhills, Wesley Chapel and San Antonio, and some pages did not name Pasco County at all. For any trade, a contractor that takes St. Leo jobs can be the one page that names the town, 33574 and the work it does there.
What the assistants looked for before recommending anyone
We read all 29 answers to see what the assistants looked for before naming a company for home services in St. Leo, FL, what they told the customer to ask, and what they said they couldn’t find.
What the assistants told customers to ask
Most common first:
Which nearby towns did assistants turn to?
Most answers named companies based in Dade City, Zephyrhills, Wesley Chapel or San Antonio. Some noted that a company’s page for a nearby town was written for a different kind of customer.
66% of the answers (19 of 29) brought this up.
Its Wesley Chapel page is written for homeowners, so ask whether they take commercial accounts.
Can the customer check the license alone?
Answers sent customers to the state DBPR lookup to check the license. Where assistants could confirm little else about a company, this was a check the customer could run without help.
59% of the answers (17 of 29) brought this up.
How should a St. Leo quote be laid out?
With no clear local pick, assistants told customers to collect written quotes from several companies. They wanted sizing, electrical work, the permit and the warranty on each one.
45% of the answers (13 of 29) brought this up.
Ask for a written quote including equipment sizing, electrical work, permits, line-set length, and warranty.
Does the listing match the job the customer needs?
Directory listings were much of what assistants found for St. Leo. They often filed a company under a related job, so assistants told customers to ask whether it also did the one they needed.
34% of the answers (10 of 29) brought this up.
That listing is under central humidifier installation, so ask whether they also install in-duct air purifiers.
Does the company’s page name St. Leo or Pasco County?
Assistants looked for a company that listed St. Leo or covered Pasco County by name, and seldom found one. Several said they would not name a single best company for that reason.
28% of the answers (8 of 29) brought this up.
I couldn't find a trustworthy "best duct installer in 33574" ranking, so I won't name a single winner.
What the assistants couldn’t find
In 12 of the 29 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 12 of its 12, ChatGPT in 0 of its 12 and Google AI Mode in 0 of its 5. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:
- A phone number or other way to reach the company: 7 answers
- Reviews it could check: 3 answers
Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 12 of its 12 answers about St. Leo (100%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served St. Leo in 2 (17%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 40% and 4%.
For any contractor that serves St. Leo, the gap is wide open. Assistants could rarely confirm that a company worked in the town or give a phone number. A page that names St. Leo, 33574 and Pasco County, lists the jobs done there and shows a working number answers what they could not.
I also didn't find reliable phone numbers in my search, so I haven't listed any rather than guess.
Where the assistants sent people
Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 24 ChatGPT and Claude answers about home services in St. Leo, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:
- A contractor’s own website: 88% (21 answers)
- A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 42% (10 answers)
- A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 29% (7 answers)
- An official license lookup: 12% (3 answers)
A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read. ChatGPT linked a contractor’s own site in 100% of its answers, Claude in 75%.
Google AI Mode works differently. In 100% of its 5 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Going further: let assistants see real openings
For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?
Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.
We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

Questions owners ask
Why does this St. Leo page only cover HVAC answers?
The research asked about St. Leo only for HVAC jobs. The answers still show what assistants met in a town with little listed for it: few pages naming St. Leo, listings for related jobs and few phone numbers. Contractors in other trades can read them as a first look, not as findings about their own trade.
Should my company’s page list St. Leo if we are based in Dade City?
Yes, if St. Leo is part of your area. Answers for St. Leo named companies from Dade City, Zephyrhills and Wesley Chapel, then told customers to confirm coverage. A page that names St. Leo and 33574 does that confirming for them.
Do directory listings matter for a St. Leo contractor?
In these answers, directory listings were much of what assistants found. Some filed a company under a related job, so assistants told customers to ask about the one they needed. Keeping your listings and your own page clear about every job you do there helps.
Which AI assistants did you test?
ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode. Between October 9 and October 14, 2026, they answered 29 questions about home services in St. Leo, FL: ChatGPT 12, Claude 12, Google AI Mode 5.
Will these changes guarantee a recommendation?
No. Nobody can promise that. These changes supply what the assistants were looking for in our research. Whether they move recommendations for your business is something to measure after they go live.
How we got these numbers
The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 29 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between October 9 and October 14, 2026. Every question named St. Leo or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.
The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
