  • “Air purifier installation near me — I'm in Fish Hawk, FL 33547. Who do you recommend?”2 answers
  • “Commercial HVAC repair near me — I'm in 33547. Who do you recommend?”2 answers
  • “I need commercial HVAC repair first thing tomorrow — I'm in Fish Hawk, FL. Who can actually come out?”2 answers
  • “I'm looking to get duct installation done in 33547 sometime this month. Who should I get quotes from?”2 answers
  • “I'm looking to get ductless mini-split installation done in Fish Hawk, FL in two weeks. Who should I get quotes from?”2 answers
  • “Looking for someone to do air purifier installation in Fish Hawk, FL 33547 in two weeks. Any recommendations?”2 answers

The other 12 questions asked for other jobs or worded the request differently. All 30 answers were about Fish Hawk, in Hillsborough County (ZIP codes 33547). By assistant: ChatGPT 12, Claude 12 and Google AI Mode 6.

The questions covered eight specific jobs. The most asked here, each with its own post:

The question underneath all of them

“Does any HVAC company actually come out to Fish Hawk, or only to Tampa and Riverview?” Assistants often found no HVAC company based in Fish Hawk, named companies from Tampa, Riverview and Lakeland, and told customers to ask about 33547.

What your Fish Hawk HVAC page has to explain

The Fish Hawk sample is small, so read it as an early look. The answers still point the same way. Assistants searched for Fish Hawk, found few companies that named it, and listed firms with addresses in Tampa, Riverview and Lakeland. Some filed the ZIP code under Lithia. Several said they could not give a confident pick for the job asked.

Questions here were for specific work: commercial repair, new ductwork, ductless mini-splits and whole-house air purifiers. Assistants often found a company that did general HVAC work but could not tell whether it did the job asked about. A company with pages about duct sealing said nothing about new installs. A Fish Hawk page should list the jobs the company does in Fish Hawk by name.

For install jobs, the answers asked for a lot in writing. They told customers to get the equipment model, the total installed price, the warranty, any duct or electrical changes, and who pulls the Hillsborough County permit. A Fish Hawk page that explains what its quote covers lets a customer compare it before the first call.

What the assistants couldn’t find

In 12 of the 30 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 12 of its 12, ChatGPT in 0 of its 12 and Google AI Mode in 0 of its 6. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:

  • A phone number or other way to reach the company: 10 answers
  • Whether the company serves the customer’s town or ZIP code: 5 answers
  • When the company could do the work: 3 answers
  • Reviews it could check: 3 answers

Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 12 of its 12 answers about Fish Hawk (100%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Fish Hawk in 5 (42%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 39% and 4% for HVAC.

For a company that works in Fish Hawk, this is an opening. Assistants often could not confirm anyone served the town, and phone numbers were what they most often could not find. A page that names Fish Hawk and 33547, gives a working number and lists the jobs done there answers both.

I didn't find reliable phone numbers for any of these and won't guess at them.

— Claude, asked “Looking for someone to do air purifier installation in Fish Hawk, FL 33547 in two weeks. Any recommendations?”, October 10, 2026

Where the assistants sent people

Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 24 ChatGPT and Claude answers about HVAC work in Fish Hawk, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:

  • A contractor’s own website: 88% (21 answers)
  • A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 54% (13 answers)
  • A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 42% (10 answers)
  • An official license lookup: 4% (1 answer)

A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read. ChatGPT linked a contractor’s own site in 100% of its answers, Claude in 75%.

Google AI Mode works differently. In 83% of its 6 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Going further: let assistants see real openings

For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?

Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.

We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

How we got these numbers

The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 30 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between October 9 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Fish Hawk or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.

The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
