Who AI assistants recommend for HVAC work in Lutz, FL

We asked ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode for HVAC work in Lutz, FL recommendations 30 times. Here is what they found, and could not find, about HVAC companies serving Lutz.

The short answer

The gap was the phone number: assistants rarely found one they trusted. They told customers to compare written quotes, ask about sizing and check the license.

  • “Air purifier installation near me — I'm in 33548. Who do you recommend?”2 answers
  • “Commercial HVAC repair near me — I'm in Lutz, FL 33548. Who do you recommend?”2 answers
  • “I need commercial HVAC repair tonight — I'm in Lutz, FL 33548. Who can actually come out?”2 answers

  • “Looking for someone to do air purifier installation in Lutz, FL 33548 before the end of the month. Any recommendations?”2 answers
  • “Who should I call for commercial HVAC repair in 33548?”2 answers

The other 12 questions asked for other jobs or worded the request differently. All 30 answers were about Lutz, in Hillsborough County (ZIP codes 33548, 33549, 33559 and 33647). By assistant: ChatGPT 12, Claude 12 and Google AI Mode 6.

The questions covered eight specific jobs. The most asked here, each with its own post:

The question underneath all of them

“Which HVAC company near Lutz can do this install, and how do I reach them?” Assistants often found HVAC companies based in or near Lutz, but rarely a phone number they could confirm.

What your Lutz HVAC page has to explain

The sample for Lutz is small, so read it as a first look. In it, assistants often found companies based in Lutz or nearby Land O’ Lakes, Wesley Chapel and Tampa. Some read a company’s location as a clue. An office in another town, or a phone number from another area code, led them to tell the customer to ask whether it covered Lutz.

The jobs asked about here were installs and commercial repair: ductwork, ductless mini-splits, air purifiers and commercial HVAC. Assistants told customers to ask whether a company does ductwork on its own, not only full system replacements, and whether it services rooftop units and other commercial equipment. A Lutz HVAC page should list the jobs it takes, and the ones it does not.

Phone numbers were the gap in almost every answer. Several assistants said they would not guess a number, and some found conflicting numbers for the same company in different directories. A Lutz page with one number, matching the Google listing, settles that.

What the assistants looked for before recommending anyone

We read all 30 answers to see what the assistants looked for before naming a company for HVAC work in Lutz, FL, what they told the customer to ask, and what they said they couldn’t find.

What the assistants told customers to ask

Most common first:

What does the written install quote cover?

For duct and mini-split installs, answers told customers to get written quotes and compare what each one covered. They named permits, electrical work, condensate drainage, sealing and insulation, and the equipment warranty.

43% of the answers (13 of 30) brought this up.

Ask whether the quote covers the ventilation or ductwork itself, such as fresh‑air intake or exhaust fans, and not just the equipment.

The licensing claim comes from the company itself, so it isn't independently verified.

— Claude, asked “Who should I call for ventilation system installation in Lutz, FL 33548?”, October 14, 2026

— Claude, asked “Who should I call for duct installation in Lutz, FL?”, October 9, 2026

What the assistants couldn’t find

In 11 of the 30 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 11 of its 12, ChatGPT in 0 of its 12 and Google AI Mode in 0 of its 6. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:

  • A phone number or other way to reach the company: 9 answers
  • Reviews it could check: 3 answers

Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 11 of its 12 answers about Lutz (92%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Lutz in 2 (17%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 39% and 4% for HVAC.

In Lutz, assistants usually found someone to suggest but rarely a phone number to go with them. For a company that serves Lutz, the fix is plain. A page that names the town, gives one working number and lists the install jobs it takes answers what this sample was missing.

I didn't find a phone number in the results, so I won't guess one.

— Claude, asked “Air purifier installation near me — I'm in 33548. Who do you recommend?”, October 9, 2026

Where the assistants sent people

Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 24 ChatGPT and Claude answers about HVAC work in Lutz, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:

  • A contractor’s own website: 100% (24 answers)
  • A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 54% (13 answers)
  • An official license lookup: 4% (1 answer)

A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read.

Google AI Mode works differently. In 67% of its 6 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Your Lutz HVAC page checklist

  1. Use “Lutz HVAC” in the page title, the main heading and the first paragraph.
  2. Describe what a written Lutz install quote lists, and price ductwork separately from equipment.
  3. Show your Florida license number with a link to the DBPR lookup, and put it on every quote.
  4. Name Lutz and its ZIP codes, 33548, 33549 and 33559, on your HVAC page, and say where your trucks leave from.
  5. List the commercial equipment you service in Lutz, and give your diagnostic and after-hours fees.
  6. Say whether you do a load calculation before quoting a Lutz install.
  7. Say how far ahead Lutz installs are booked, and whether you take after-hours commercial calls.
  8. Put one phone number on the Lutz page, and keep it the same on your Google listing and in directories.
  9. Link to your Google reviews, and point to recent Lutz installs by job type.

Going further: let assistants see real openings

For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?

Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.

We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

Questions owners ask

Do I need to list the ZIP codes I serve around Lutz?

It helps. Answers about Lutz often searched by 33548 and told customers to confirm a company covered it when its page did not say. Listing Lutz and its ZIP codes, along with the town your crews leave from, answers that before the customer calls.

Why couldn’t AI assistants give a phone number for Lutz HVAC companies?

In this small sample, most answers could not confirm a phone number, and several said they would not guess one. Some found different numbers for the same company. One number, used the same way on your site, Google listing and directories, gives them something to confirm.

Which HVAC jobs were people asking about in Lutz?

The questions here covered duct installation, ductless mini-splits, air purifiers and commercial HVAC repair, with a few about thermostats and ventilation. Assistants often could not tell whether a nearby company took on that particular job. A page that lists your Lutz jobs lets them check.

Which AI assistants did you test?

ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode. Between October 9 and October 14, 2026, they answered 30 questions about HVAC work in Lutz, FL: ChatGPT 12, Claude 12, Google AI Mode 6.

Will these changes guarantee a recommendation?

No. Nobody can promise that. These changes supply what the assistants were looking for in our research. Whether they move recommendations for your business is something to measure after they go live.

How we got these numbers

The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 30 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between October 9 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Lutz or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.

The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
