What people actually asked

We asked 18 different questions here between October 9 and October 14, 2026. These are the six asked most, word for word, with how many of the 30 answers each produced:

  • “Air purifier installation near me — I'm in Tierra Verde, FL 33715. Who do you recommend?”2 answers
  • “I need commercial HVAC repair today — I'm in Tierra Verde, FL 33715. Who can actually come out?”2 answers
  • “I'm looking to get duct installation done in Tierra Verde, FL in two weeks. Who should I get quotes from?”2 answers
  • “Looking for someone to do air purifier installation in 33715 before the end of the month. Any recommendations?”2 answers
  • “Who should I call for commercial HVAC repair in Tierra Verde, FL?”2 answers
  • “Who should I call for duct installation in Tierra Verde, FL 33715?”2 answers

The other 12 questions asked for other jobs or worded the request differently. All 30 answers were about Tierra Verde, in Pinellas County (ZIP codes 33715). By assistant: ChatGPT 12, Claude 12 and Google AI Mode 6.

The questions covered eight specific jobs. The most asked here, each with its own post:

The question underneath all of them

“Will an HVAC company come out to Tierra Verde, and does it know how salt air treats equipment?” Assistants rarely found an HVAC company that listed Tierra Verde, and when one had a Tierra Verde page, they noticed it and checked it for the job asked.

What your Tierra Verde HVAC page has to explain

Treat the Tierra Verde sample as a first look, since it is small. Most answers named HVAC companies in St. Petersburg or elsewhere in Pinellas County, then said none was confirmed to serve 33715. Where a company did have its own Tierra Verde service page, assistants picked that up and named it. They then read the page to see whether it covered the job asked.

That reading mattered. A company with a Tierra Verde page was still flagged when its page did not mention commercial work. The questions here included commercial repair, duct installation, ductless mini-splits and whole-home air purifiers. A Tierra Verde HVAC page should list each of the jobs you take on the island, including commercial units if you service them.

Several answers raised the coast. They called Tierra Verde a barrier island or noted salt air and told customers to ask about corrosion-resistant coils or coatings for the outdoor unit. Some also asked about placement away from salt spray and the unit’s wind rating. If you offer coastal protection, the page should say what it is.

What the assistants couldn’t find

In 12 of the 30 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 12 of its 12, ChatGPT in 0 of its 12 and Google AI Mode in 0 of its 6. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:

  • A phone number or other way to reach the company: 9 answers
  • Whether the company serves the customer’s town or ZIP code: 8 answers

Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 12 of its 12 answers about Tierra Verde (100%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Tierra Verde in 8 (67%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 39% and 4% for HVAC.

Far more often than in the large research towns, assistants could not confirm that any HVAC company served Tierra Verde, and they rarely found a phone number they trusted. A company that works on the island has an opening: a page naming Tierra Verde and 33715, with a working number and the jobs done there.

I didn't find reliable phone numbers for any of these.

— Claude, asked “I'm looking to get ductless mini-split installation done in Tierra Verde, FL 33715 before the end of the month. Who should I get quotes from?”, October 14, 2026

Where the assistants sent people

Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 24 ChatGPT and Claude answers about HVAC work in Tierra Verde, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:

  • A contractor’s own website: 100% (24 answers)
  • A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 33% (8 answers)
  • A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 29% (7 answers)
  • A Google search or Maps page: 4% (1 answer)

A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read.

Google AI Mode works differently. In 83% of its 6 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Going further: let assistants see real openings

For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?

Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.

We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

How we got these numbers

The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 30 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between October 9 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Tierra Verde or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.

The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
