  • “Who should I call for commercial HVAC repair in 33615?”2 answers
  • “Who should I call for duct installation in 33615?”2 answers

The other 12 questions asked for other jobs or worded the request differently. All 30 answers were about Town 'n' Country, in Hillsborough County (ZIP codes 33615, 33634 and 33635). By assistant: ChatGPT 12, Claude 12 and Google AI Mode 6.

The questions covered eight specific jobs. The most asked here, each with its own post:

The question underneath all of them

“Which HVAC company near me in Town 'n' Country does this exact job, and will it come to 33615?” Assistants named Tampa-area HVAC companies for Town 'n' Country but often could not confirm they served 33615 or did the job asked, so they told customers to ask.

What your Town 'n' Country HVAC page has to explain

The Town 'n' Country sample is small, so read it as a first look. Most answers treated the town as part of the Tampa area and offered Tampa-area companies, often without proof they served 33615. When a listing showed a phone number with a distant area code, some assistants told customers to ask whether that company really covered their address.

The questions were all for specific HVAC jobs: commercial repair, duct installation, ductless mini-splits, air purifiers, thermostats and ventilation. Assistants often found an HVAC company whose listed services did not name the job, such as ductwork or commercial units. They told customers to ask first. A Town 'n' Country HVAC page should list each job in words a customer would use.

For installs, answers asked for detail. They wanted a written quote that separates ductwork, equipment, insulation and permit, with sizing from a load calculation. Some told mini-split shoppers to check whether a Tampa Electric rebate applied to ductless systems before counting on it. For air purifiers, they asked about ozone and who replaces lamps and filters.

What the assistants couldn’t find

In 12 of the 30 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 12 of its 12, ChatGPT in 0 of its 12 and Google AI Mode in 0 of its 6. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:

  • A phone number or other way to reach the company: 11 answers
  • Reviews it could check: 6 answers
  • Whether the company serves the customer’s town or ZIP code: 4 answers

Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 12 of its 12 answers about Town 'n' Country (100%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Town 'n' Country in 4 (33%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 39% and 4% for HVAC.

Phone numbers were what assistants most often could not confirm here. More often than in the large research towns, they also could not confirm a company served Town 'n' Country. A page naming the town and its ZIP codes, with a working local number, answers both.

I couldn't find a verified phone number for any of these companies.

— Claude, asked “Who should I call for ventilation system installation in Town 'n' Country, FL 33615?”, October 14, 2026

Where the assistants sent people

Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 24 ChatGPT and Claude answers about HVAC work in Town 'n' Country, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:

  • A contractor’s own website: 100% (24 answers)
  • A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 38% (9 answers)
  • A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 38% (9 answers)
  • An official license lookup: 4% (1 answer)

A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read.

Google AI Mode works differently. In 67% of its 6 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Going further: let assistants see real openings

For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?

Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.

We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

How we got these numbers

The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 30 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between October 9 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Town 'n' Country or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.

The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
