What people actually asked

We asked 17 different questions here between October 9 and October 14, 2026. These are the six asked most, word for word, with how many of the 29 answers each produced:

  • “Air purifier installation near me — I'm in 34655. Who do you recommend?”2 answers
  • “Commercial HVAC repair near me — I'm in Trinity, FL. Who do you recommend?”2 answers
  • “Ductless mini-split installation near me — I'm in Trinity, FL. Who do you recommend?”2 answers
  • “I need commercial HVAC repair today — I'm in Trinity, FL 34655. Who can actually come out?”2 answers
  • “I'm looking to get duct installation done in Trinity, FL in two weeks. Who should I get quotes from?”2 answers
  • “I'm looking to get ductless mini-split installation done in 34655 before the end of the month. Who should I get quotes from?”2 answers

The other 11 questions asked for other jobs or worded the request differently. All 29 answers were about Trinity, in Pasco County (ZIP codes 34655). By assistant: ChatGPT 12, Claude 12 and Google AI Mode 5.

The questions covered eight specific jobs. The most asked here, each with its own post:

The question underneath all of them

“Which HVAC company really serves Trinity, and does it do the job I need?” Assistants leaned on companies whose own pages named Trinity or 34655, and told customers to ask the rest whether they cover Trinity.

What your Trinity HVAC page has to explain

The Trinity sample is small, so read it as a first look. Several answers described 34655 as the Trinity and New Port Richey area of Pasco County. When a company had a page naming Trinity or 34655, assistants often linked that page as the evidence that it served Trinity. When it did not, they said they could not confirm it served Trinity itself.

One answer found a company with a similar name that served a different part of Florida, and warned the customer not to use it. That kind of mix-up is easy to prevent. A Trinity HVAC page should name Trinity, Pasco County and 34655 together, so there is no doubt which Trinity it means.

The questions asked for specific jobs: commercial repair, new ductwork, ductless mini-splits, air purifiers and ventilation. Assistants often could not tell whether a company did that job. They told customers to ask, and to get written estimates that spell out sizing, the permit and the warranty. Several noted which companies offered free estimates.

What the assistants couldn’t find

In 12 of the 29 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 12 of its 12, ChatGPT in 0 of its 12 and Google AI Mode in 0 of its 5. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:

  • A phone number or other way to reach the company: 9 answers
  • Whether the company serves the customer’s town or ZIP code: 3 answers
  • Reviews it could check: 3 answers

Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 12 of its 12 answers about Trinity (100%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Trinity in 3 (25%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 39% and 4% for HVAC.

For an HVAC company that serves Trinity, this is an opening. Assistants sometimes could not confirm that anyone covered Trinity itself, and most often could not find a phone number they trusted. A Trinity page with the town, 34655 and a working number answers both.

I also didn't find phone numbers I could trust, so I haven't listed any.

— Claude, asked “Duct installation near me — I'm in 34655. Who do you recommend?”, October 10, 2026

Where the assistants sent people

Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 24 ChatGPT and Claude answers about HVAC work in Trinity, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:

  • A contractor’s own website: 92% (22 answers)
  • A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 42% (10 answers)
  • A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 21% (5 answers)
  • An official license lookup: 17% (4 answers)

A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read. ChatGPT linked a contractor’s own site in 100% of its answers, Claude in 83%.

Google AI Mode works differently. In 80% of its 5 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

  3. List the HVAC jobs you do in Trinity, including ductwork, mini-splits, ventilation and any commercial work.
  4. Show your Florida HVAC license number with a link to the DBPR lookup, and say what insurance you carry.

Going further: let assistants see real openings

For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?

Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.

We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

How we got these numbers

The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 29 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between October 9 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Trinity or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.

The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
