Who AI assistants recommend for home services in Holiday, FL

The short answer
This is a small sample, and every question in it was about heating and cooling work. Assistants found contractors serving Holiday without much trouble. What they could not confirm was the proof behind them: a Florida license, independent reviews and a working phone number. They told customers to check each of these themselves.

The question underneath all of them
“How do I know a contractor serving Holiday is licensed and real, not just a directory listing?” Every Holiday question so far was about heating and cooling, and the answers stalled on proof: the license, independent reviews and a phone number.
What your Holiday page has to explain
So far, every question recorded for Holiday was about HVAC: commercial repair, ductwork, mini-splits, purifiers, thermostats and ventilation. No plumbing, electrical or roofing questions have been asked here yet. The parts of these answers that are not about HVAC itself, such as proof of license, reviews and a working number, apply to a Holiday page in any trade.
Finding a company was not the hard part here. Some contractors had a page for Holiday, and others listed nearby towns in Pasco County. The hard part was trusting what the assistants found. Much of it came from directory profiles and press releases the companies wrote themselves. Assistants said plainly that they could not vouch for licenses or reviews from those sources.
That left the checking to the customer. Assistants told Holiday customers to get the Florida license number and look it up, ask for proof of insurance, ask for references when there were no reviews, and get every price in writing. A Holiday page should give the customer each of these directly, so the checking takes minutes.
What the assistants looked for before recommending anyone
We read all 30 answers to see what the assistants looked for before naming a company for home services in Holiday, FL, what they told the customer to ask, and what they said they couldn’t find.
What the assistants told customers to ask
Most common first:
Is the price and warranty in writing?
Assistants told Holiday customers to get written quotes and warranty terms covering both equipment and labor. They said to compare quotes on what each included, not just the total.
53% of the answers (16 of 30) brought this up.
Ask about warranties on both the equipment and the labor.
Can the customer check the license on the state site?
Answers about Holiday often told customers to get the contractor’s Florida license number and check it on the state licensing board’s website. They also said to ask for proof of insurance.
50% of the answers (15 of 30) brought this up.
Check the contractor's Florida license on the state licensing board's website, and ask for proof of insurance.
Does the page name Holiday?
Some contractors had a Holiday page, and assistants named them. When a page listed only nearby towns such as New Port Richey, they told the customer to ask whether the company covers Holiday.
47% of the answers (14 of 30) brought this up.
Its page doesn't mention Holiday, so ask whether they cover it.
Are there reviews the customer can trust?
Assistants often said the reviews they found were not independently verified, or that a listing had none. They told customers to ask for references when a contractor had no reviews to show.
27% of the answers (8 of 30) brought this up.
I can't vouch for any of these companies, because I found no independent ranking and no recent verified reviews for them.
Does the contractor handle this exact kind of job?
Answers often found a contractor in the right trade but could not tell whether it did the job asked. They told customers to ask whether it handles their type of system or equipment.
20% of the answers (6 of 30) brought this up.
Ask each company whether it handles your type of ventilation.
What the assistants couldn’t find
In 11 of the 30 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 11 of its 12, ChatGPT in 0 of its 12 and Google AI Mode in 0 of its 6. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:
- A phone number or other way to reach the company: 9 answers
- Reviews it could check: 6 answers
- A license or insurance it could check: 3 answers
Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 11 of its 12 answers about Holiday (92%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Holiday in 0 (0%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 40% and 4%.
In Holiday, assistants rarely had trouble finding someone who served the town. They most often could not find a phone number, and often could not confirm reviews or a license. A Holiday page in any trade can answer all three directly.
I found these on a directory listing with no review information, so I can't say how good they are.
Where the assistants sent people
Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 24 ChatGPT and Claude answers about home services in Holiday, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:
- A contractor’s own website: 100% (24 answers)
- A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 50% (12 answers)
- A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 21% (5 answers)
A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read.
Google AI Mode works differently. In 83% of its 6 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Going further: let assistants see real openings
For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?
Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.
We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

Questions owners ask
What should a contractor’s Holiday page say?
From the answers so far, it should name Holiday and its ZIP codes, show a Florida license number the customer can check, link to independent reviews and give one working phone number. Assistants told customers to check each of these before hiring.
Were only HVAC questions asked about Holiday?
Yes, so far. Every Holiday question recorded was about heating and cooling, such as ductwork, mini-splits and commercial repair. The advice about license, reviews and a working number is not specific to HVAC, so other trades can use it too.
Why couldn’t AI assistants vouch for Holiday contractors?
In this small sample, much of what they found came from directory listings and press releases written by the companies. They could not confirm licenses or independent reviews from those. A page with a checkable license number and links to real reviews gives them something firmer.
Which AI assistants did you test?
ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode. Between October 9 and October 14, 2026, they answered 30 questions about home services in Holiday, FL: ChatGPT 12, Claude 12, Google AI Mode 6.
Will these changes guarantee a recommendation?
No. Nobody can promise that. These changes supply what the assistants were looking for in our research. Whether they move recommendations for your business is something to measure after they go live.
How we got these numbers
The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 30 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between October 9 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Holiday or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.
The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
