Who AI assistants recommend for home services in Plant City, FL

We asked ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode for home services in Plant City, FL recommendations 30 times. Here is what they found for Plant City so far, and what a contractor’s town page can fill in.

The short answer

This is a small sample, and so far every Plant City question was about HVAC work. Assistants found contractors located in Plant City and larger firms that listed it, so reaching the town was rarely the problem. The gaps were a phone number they could confirm and a clear sign the company did the specific job.

What people actually asked

We asked 18 different questions here between October 9 and October 14, 2026. These are the six asked most, word for word, with how many of the 30 answers each produced:

  • “Air purifier installation near me — I'm in Plant City, FL 33563. Who do you recommend?”2 answers
  • “Commercial HVAC repair near me — I'm in 33563. Who do you recommend?”2 answers
  • “Ductless mini-split installation near me — I'm in 33563. Who do you recommend?”2 answers
  • “I need commercial HVAC repair first thing tomorrow — I'm in Plant City, FL 33563. Who can actually come out?”2 answers
  • “I'm looking to get duct installation done in Plant City, FL 33563 in two weeks. Who should I get quotes from?”2 answers
  • “Looking for someone to do air purifier installation in 33563 in two weeks. Any recommendations?”2 answers

The other 12 questions asked for other jobs or worded the request differently. All 30 answers were about Plant City, in Hillsborough County (ZIP codes 33563, 33565 and 33566). By assistant: ChatGPT 12, Claude 12 and Google AI Mode 6.

The questions covered eight specific jobs. The most asked here, each with its own post:

The question underneath all of them

“Which contractor serving Plant City does the job I need, and how do I reach them?” So far only HVAC jobs were asked about in Plant City, and assistants most often could not find a trusted phone number or proof of the exact job.

What your Plant City page has to explain

Plant City’s sample is small and covers one trade so far, so it is a first look rather than a town-wide picture. Questions asked about commercial HVAC repair, ductwork, ductless systems, air purifiers, thermostats and ventilation. Plumbing, electrical and roofing have not been asked about in Plant City yet. What the answers show about HVAC is still useful for any contractor’s Plant City page.

Assistants did not struggle to find someone serving Plant City. They named a few contractors located in town and others from the wider Tampa Bay area whose pages listed Plant City. They flagged firms that were a long drive away. A Plant City page should make the same point clear: where the crew starts and that Plant City is inside the area it covers.

The harder part was the job itself. Answers often said a company’s page did not mention the work asked for, so the customer would have to call and ask. Phone numbers were also missing or unconfirmed in most answers. A Plant City page that names each job done in town and gives one working number covers the two gaps that came up most.

What the assistants looked for before recommending anyone

We read all 30 answers to see what the assistants looked for before naming a company for home services in Plant City, FL, what they told the customer to ask, and what they said they couldn’t find.

What the assistants told customers to ask

Most common first:

Is the contractor in Plant City, or does it list Plant City?

Answers separated contractors located in Plant City from larger firms that listed it as a service area. When neither was clear, assistants told customers to confirm the company dispatched to Plant City.

57% of the answers (17 of 30) brought this up.

Its listing doesn't name Plant City, so confirm it dispatches there.

— Claude, asked “Commercial HVAC repair near me — I'm in 33563. Who do you recommend?”, October 12, 2026

Does the page list the exact job the customer asked about?

Assistants often found a contractor nearby but could not see the requested job on its page. They noted that a listing was for other work and told the customer to ask.

40% of the answers (12 of 30) brought this up.

That listing is for heat pump work, so ask whether they install purifiers.

— Claude, asked “Air purifier installation near me — I'm in Plant City, FL 33563. Who do you recommend?”, October 9, 2026

Can a Plant City customer look up the license?

Answers told Plant City customers to ask for the contractor’s Florida license number, check it on the state DBPR site and ask for proof of insurance. This was among the most repeated advice in the sample.

37% of the answers (11 of 30) brought this up.

Does the quote cover the permit?

For installs, assistants told customers to ask about permit timing and whether permits were in the written estimate. They listed the permit next to sizing, electrical work and warranty.

27% of the answers (8 of 30) brought this up.

Is the system sized for the building?

For new equipment, answers told customers to ask for a load calculation instead of a size picked by rule of thumb. They wanted the sizing written into the quote.

27% of the answers (8 of 30) brought this up.

Ask for a load calculation instead of a rule-of-thumb size.

— Claude, asked “Ductless mini-split installation near me — I'm in 33563. Who do you recommend?”, October 13, 2026

What the assistants couldn’t find

In 10 of the 30 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 10 of its 12, ChatGPT in 0 of its 12 and Google AI Mode in 0 of its 6. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:

  • A phone number or other way to reach the company: 9 answers
  • When the company could do the work: 3 answers

Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 10 of its 12 answers about Plant City (83%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Plant City in 1 (8%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 40% and 4%.

For a contractor that serves Plant City, this is an opening. Assistants could usually find someone nearby, but rarely a phone number they would stand behind or a clear list of jobs done in town. A Plant City page that gives both answers what the assistants were missing.

I couldn't verify a clear best pick for Plant City, so I can't give you a confident recommendation.

— Claude, asked “Air purifier installation near me — I'm in Plant City, FL 33563. Who do you recommend?”, October 9, 2026

Where the assistants sent people

Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 24 ChatGPT and Claude answers about home services in Plant City, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:

  • A contractor’s own website: 100% (24 answers)
  • A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 50% (12 answers)
  • A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 12% (3 answers)
  • An official license lookup: 4% (1 answer)

A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read.

Google AI Mode works differently. In 50% of its 6 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Going further: let assistants see real openings

For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?

Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.

We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

How we got these numbers

The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 30 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between October 9 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Plant City or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.

The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
