The questions covered eight specific jobs. The most asked here, each with its own post:

The question underneath all of them

“Who will actually do this HVAC job in Plant City, and can I reach them?” Assistants found HVAC companies near Plant City but often could not tell whether one did the exact job asked, or find a phone number for it.

What your Plant City HVAC page has to explain

The sample for Plant City is small, so read it as an early look. Unlike some small towns, assistants rarely said no one served Plant City. They sorted companies into those located in town and larger Tampa Bay firms that listed it as a service area. For a firm based farther off, such as one in Lakeland or Odessa, they told customers to ask whether it would make the drive.

Every question here was for a specific job: commercial repair, new ductwork, ductless mini-splits, whole-house air purifiers, thermostats or ventilation. Assistants often found an HVAC company that seemed right but whose page did not list that job. They then told the customer to ask directly. A Plant City HVAC page that lists each job by name settles that before the call.

Quote advice was detailed for install jobs. Answers told customers to get an itemized written quote and to ask for a load calculation rather than a rule-of-thumb size. For mini-splits and ducts, they also wanted the quote to cover permits, electrical work and drainage. For commercial repair, they told customers to say what equipment they had, such as a rooftop unit.

What the assistants couldn’t find

In 10 of the 30 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 10 of its 12, ChatGPT in 0 of its 12 and Google AI Mode in 0 of its 6. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:

  • A phone number or other way to reach the company: 9 answers
  • When the company could do the work: 3 answers

Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 10 of its 12 answers about Plant City (83%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Plant City in 1 (8%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 39% and 4% for HVAC.

For a company that serves Plant City, the opening is plain. Assistants usually found someone nearby, but rarely a phone number they trusted or proof of the exact job. A page that lists the jobs done in Plant City and gives a working number answers both.

The searches turned up a few leads and no confirmed phone numbers, and I won't guess at numbers.

Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 24 ChatGPT and Claude answers about HVAC work in Plant City, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:

  • A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 12% (3 answers)

Going further: let assistants see real openings

For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?

Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.

We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

How we got these numbers

The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 30 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between October 9 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Plant City or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.

The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
