The questions covered 25 specific jobs. The most asked here, each with its own post:

The question underneath all of them

“Which contractor will really come to Safety Harbor, and what exactly will I be paying for?” Across plumbing, electrical and HVAC, assistants mostly named contractors from Clearwater, Oldsmar and Palm Harbor, then told customers to confirm 34695, the license and the permit.

What your Safety Harbor page has to explain

The Safety Harbor sample is fairly small and covers plumbing, electrical and HVAC. No roofing questions have been asked here yet. Few contractors in the answers were based in Safety Harbor itself. Most came from Clearwater, Oldsmar, Palm Harbor or Dunedin. A few answers even labeled 34695 as Oldsmar or Tarpon Springs. A Safety Harbor page should state plainly that the town and 34695 are inside its area.

The jobs were specific: sewer line repair, repiping, water filtration, toilets and sump pumps; breakers, aluminum wiring and surge protectors; ducts, mini-splits and commercial HVAC. Assistants often found a nearby contractor but could not see the requested job on its page, so they told the customer to ask. Listing each job by name, for each trade, closes that gap.

Quote advice was detailed and varied by job. For sewer lines, answers wanted a camera inspection before anyone quoted digging. For water filtration, they wanted a water test first. For toilets, they wanted the quote to cover removing the old one. Permits came up across all three trades. A Safety Harbor page should say what the first visit includes and what the quote lists.

What the assistants couldn’t find

In 39 of the 102 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 39 of its 42, ChatGPT in 0 of its 42 and Google AI Mode in 0 of its 18. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:

  • A phone number or other way to reach the company: 29 answers
  • Reviews it could check: 19 answers
  • When the company could do the work: 7 answers
  • Whether the company serves the customer’s town or ZIP code: 6 answers
  • A license or insurance it could check: 5 answers

Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 39 of its 42 answers about Safety Harbor (93%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Safety Harbor in 6 (14%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 40% and 4%.

In Safety Harbor, a phone number was what assistants most often could not find, followed by reviews they could check. Some also could not confirm anyone covered 34695 for the job asked. A Safety Harbor page with a working number, linked reviews and the town named in the service area answers each of these.

The Safety Harbor search came back thin, so I can't confirm a strong local pick.

— Claude, asked “Looking for someone to do toilet installation in 34695 before the end of the month. Any recommendations?”, October 11, 2026

Where the assistants sent people

Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 84 ChatGPT and Claude answers about home services in Safety Harbor, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:

  • A contractor’s own website: 99% (83 answers)
  • A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 48% (40 answers)
  • A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 17% (14 answers)
  • An official license lookup: 12% (10 answers)
  • A Google search or Maps page: 4% (3 answers)

A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read.

Google AI Mode works differently. In 67% of its 18 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Going further: let assistants see real openings

For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?

Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.

We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

How we got these numbers

The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 102 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between October 9 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Safety Harbor or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.

The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
