The question underneath all of them
“Will any HVAC company actually come out to Balm?” Assistants often found no company naming Balm or 33503, so they suggested Riverview and other nearby towns and told customers to ask.
What your Balm HVAC page has to explain
The sample for Balm is small, so treat it as a first look rather than a full picture. Even so, the answers agree on one thing. Assistants searched for Balm, found little that named it, and widened the search to Riverview, Brandon, Wimauma and Tampa. Some answers described Balm as a rural part of southeast Hillsborough County. Several said plainly they could not give a confident pick.
Most companies the answers named were based in a nearby town. Assistants then told the customer to ask whether the company would send a crew to their exact Balm address. A company that does work in Balm can settle that before the call. Its page should name Balm and 33503, and say which town the crew comes from.
The questions here were for specific jobs: commercial HVAC repair, duct installation, ductless mini-splits and whole-house air purifiers. Assistants often found a nearby company that did HVAC work but could not tell whether it did the job asked for. They told customers to ask whether it installs ductwork, does mini-splits regularly or takes commercial jobs. A Balm page should list the jobs it does there.

What the assistants couldn’t find
In 11 of the 29 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 11 of its 12, ChatGPT in 0 of its 12 and Google AI Mode in 0 of its 5. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:
- A phone number or other way to reach the company: 10 answers
- Whether the company serves the customer’s town or ZIP code: 5 answers
- Reviews it could check: 4 answers
Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 11 of its 12 answers about Balm (92%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Balm in 5 (42%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 39% and 4% for HVAC.
For a company that serves Balm, this is an opening. Assistants often could not confirm that anyone came out to Balm, and rarely found a phone number they trusted. A page that names Balm, gives a working number and lists the jobs done there answers both.
I couldn't find a duct installer I can confirm serves 33503, which is Balm, FL in southeast Hillsborough County.
Where the assistants sent people
Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 24 ChatGPT and Claude answers about HVAC work in Balm, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:
- A contractor’s own website: 100% (24 answers)
- A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 46% (11 answers)
- A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 12% (3 answers)
- An official license lookup: 8% (2 answers)
A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read.
Google AI Mode works differently. In 60% of its 5 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Going further: let assistants see real openings
For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?
Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.
We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

How we got these numbers
The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 29 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between October 9 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Balm or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.
The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
