What people actually asked

We asked 18 different questions here between October 9 and October 14, 2026. These are the six asked most, word for word, with how many of the 30 answers each produced:

  • “Air purifier installation near me — I'm in 33523. Who do you recommend?”2 answers
  • “Ductless mini-split installation near me — I'm in Dade City, FL 33523. Who do you recommend?”2 answers
  • “I need commercial HVAC repair tonight — I'm in Dade City, FL 33523. Who can actually come out?”2 answers
  • “I'm looking to get duct installation done in Dade City, FL sometime this month. Who should I get quotes from?”2 answers
  • “Looking for someone to do air purifier installation in 33523 before the end of the month. Any recommendations?”2 answers
  • “Who should I call for commercial HVAC repair in Dade City, FL?”2 answers

The other 12 questions asked for other jobs or worded the request differently. All 30 answers were about Dade City, in Pasco County (ZIP codes 33523 and 33525). By assistant: ChatGPT 12, Claude 12 and Google AI Mode 6.

The questions covered eight specific jobs. The most asked here, each with its own post:

The question underneath all of them

“Which HVAC company around Dade City actually does the job I need?” Assistants usually found HVAC companies in or near Dade City, but often could not tell whether they did the specific job asked for.

What your Dade City HVAC page has to explain

The Dade City sample is small, so read it as a first look. Assistants here rarely said they could not find anyone serving the area. Many named companies with a Dade City address or a Pasco County service area. Others pointed to Zephyrhills, Wesley Chapel and Lakeland. When a company listed other ZIP codes, they told customers to ask whether it would travel to Dade City.

The bigger gap was the job itself. Questions asked about duct installation, ductless mini-splits, air purifiers and commercial repair. Assistants often found a company that did AC repair and installs, but its page never mentioned the job in question. So they told the customer to call and ask. A Dade City HVAC page should list each job the company does here, by name.

For install work, assistants wanted the quote spelled out. They told customers to ask whether it covered the equipment, duct sizing, sealing, removal of old ductwork and the permit. Some also said to ask who pulls the Pasco County permit, and whether the company’s own staff or a subcontractor does the install. The page should explain what a written quote lists.

What the assistants looked for before recommending anyone

We read all 30 answers to see what the assistants looked for before naming a company for HVAC work in Dade City, FL, what they told the customer to ask, and what they said they couldn’t find.

What the assistants told customers to ask

Most common first:

Is the Florida license easy to check?

Many answers told customers to check the contractor’s Florida license on the state DBPR site before booking. Some companies the answers named showed no reviews, so the license was one thing a customer could verify alone.

67% of the answers (20 of 30) brought this up.

Will the company come to a Dade City address?

Answers often described a company as serving the Dade City area or Pasco County. When a company’s page listed only other ZIP codes, assistants told customers to ask whether it would make the trip.

63% of the answers (19 of 30) brought this up.

Its listed ZIP codes are 33539–33542, so ask whether they'll travel to Dade City.

— Claude, asked “Looking for someone to do air purifier installation in 33523 before the end of the month. Any recommendations?”, October 10, 2026

Does the company do the specific job asked about?

Assistants often found a nearby HVAC company but could not tell whether it did ductwork, mini-splits, air purifiers or commercial repair. Its page talked about AC in general, so they told the customer to ask about the exact job first.

57% of the answers (17 of 30) brought this up.

Its page is mostly about AC repair and installation, so ask them about duct work specifically.

— Claude, asked “I'm looking to get duct installation done in Dade City, FL sometime this month. Who should I get quotes from?”, October 11, 2026

Does the written quote list each part of the job?

For duct and mini-split installs, assistants told customers to get itemized written quotes. They wanted equipment, labor, electrical work and the permit listed apart, so one quote could be held against another.

47% of the answers (14 of 30) brought this up.

Ask whether the quote includes the equipment, duct modification, electrical work, installation warranty, and replacement-filter cost.

— ChatGPT, asked “Air purifier installation near me — I'm in 33523. Who do you recommend?”, October 9, 2026

Who takes out the Pasco County permit?

Several answers told customers to ask who pulls the Pasco County permit and whether the quote includes it. For duct and system installs, this sat alongside the other line items they wanted in writing.

40% of the answers (12 of 30) brought this up.

Ask whether the quote includes permits, insulation rating, duct sizing, sealing with mastic, and removal of old ductwork.

— ChatGPT, asked “Who should I call for duct installation in Dade City, FL 33523?”, October 9, 2026

Will the company check duct sizing and airflow?

For new ductwork, assistants told customers to ask whether the company would size the ducts and check airflow to every room. Some also mentioned a load calculation or a leak test.

27% of the answers (8 of 30) brought this up.

Ask whether they will check duct sizing and airflow to every room.

— Claude, asked “Who should I call for duct installation in Dade City, FL 33523?”, October 9, 2026

What the assistants couldn’t find

In 11 of the 30 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 10 of its 12, ChatGPT in 1 of its 12 and Google AI Mode in 0 of its 6. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:

  • Reviews it could check: 3 answers

Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 10 of its 12 answers about Dade City (83%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Dade City in 1 (8%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 39% and 4% for HVAC.

In this small sample, assistants seldom doubted that someone served Dade City, but often could not confirm a nearby company did the job asked for. A page that names each job and gives a working phone number answers that, and the missing numbers too.

None of my searches returned a verified phone number, so I haven't listed any.

— Claude, asked “Who should I call for duct installation in Dade City, FL 33523?”, October 9, 2026

Where the assistants sent people

Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 24 ChatGPT and Claude answers about HVAC work in Dade City, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:

  • A contractor’s own website: 96% (23 answers)
  • A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 38% (9 answers)
  • A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 38% (9 answers)
  • An official license lookup: 21% (5 answers)

A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read.

Google AI Mode works differently. In 100% of its 6 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Going further: let assistants see real openings

For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?

Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.

We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

Questions owners ask

Should my HVAC page list every job I do in Dade City?

Yes, if you want customers to see it before calling. In this small sample, assistants often found Dade City area companies but could not tell whether they did ductwork, mini-splits, air purifiers or commercial repair. Their advice was to phone and ask. Naming each job on the page answers that question up front.

My HVAC company is in Zephyrhills. Is it worth naming Dade City on my page?

If you work in Dade City, yes. Answers named companies from Zephyrhills, Wesley Chapel and Lakeland, and told customers to ask whether they would travel to Dade City. A page that names Dade City, 33523 and 33525, and says where your technicians start, settles that before the call.

What did assistants tell Dade City customers to ask before an HVAC install?

They told customers to get an itemized written quote listing the equipment, duct work, electrical work, warranty and permit. They also said to ask who pulls the Pasco County permit, whether ducts are sized and tested, and whether the company’s own staff does the install.

Which AI assistants did you test?

ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode. Between October 9 and October 14, 2026, they answered 30 questions about HVAC work in Dade City, FL: ChatGPT 12, Claude 12, Google AI Mode 6.

Will these changes guarantee a recommendation?

No. Nobody can promise that. These changes supply what the assistants were looking for in our research. Whether they move recommendations for your business is something to measure after they go live.

How we got these numbers

The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 30 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between October 9 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Dade City or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.

The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
