The question underneath all of them
“Which Largo roofer can stop this leak now and give me a report my insurer will take?” Answers about Largo roofing told customers to ask about a tarp for active leaks, a written report with photos, and the license and workers’ comp.
What your Largo roofing page has to explain
Many Largo roofing questions were urgent: a ceiling stain spreading, storm or wind damage, or a leak around a chimney or skylight. Answers often suggested asking for an emergency tarp or dry-in first, since that is easier to schedule than a full repair. Some told customers to get a written price for the tarp before work began. A Largo roofing page should say whether the crew tarps and how fast.
Insurance came up again and again in Largo roof answers. Assistants told home buyers to ask for a roof certification and the inspection forms insurers request, such as wind mitigation. They also warned against door-knockers after a storm, large deposits and anyone pushing the customer to sign over the claim. The page should say which reports the roofer provides and what it does, and does not do, with a claim.
For new roofs, answers asked who backs the warranty, the shingle maker or only the contractor, and what the workmanship warranty covers and for how long. Some asked whether the company used its own crews or subcontractors. A Largo roofing page should spell out both warranties and say who does the installing.

What the assistants couldn’t find
In 192 of the 1,215 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 178 of its 417, ChatGPT in 14 of its 505 and Google AI Mode in 0 of its 293. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:
- A phone number or other way to reach the company: 108 answers
- When the company could do the work: 31 answers
- Reviews it could check: 30 answers
- A license or insurance it could check: 24 answers
- Whether the company serves the customer’s town or ZIP code: 9 answers
- A price or how the job is priced: 8 answers
Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 178 of its 417 answers about Largo (43%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Largo in 9 (2%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 40% and 3% for roofing.
Largo roofing answers most often lacked a phone number, then could not confirm who could come soon or what recent customers said. A page that gives a working number, says how soon a crew can tarp or inspect, and links to recent reviews covers those gaps.
I left them out because I couldn't confirm they're based near Largo.
Where the assistants sent people
Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 922 ChatGPT and Claude answers about roofing work in Largo, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:
- A contractor’s own website: 97% (891 answers)
- A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 59% (546 answers)
- An official license lookup: 12% (107 answers)
- A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 9% (80 answers)
- A Google search or Maps page: under 1% (6 answers)
A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read.
Google AI Mode works differently. In 73% of its 293 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Going further: let assistants see real openings
For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?
Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.
We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

How we got these numbers
The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 1,215 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between September 2 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Largo or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.
The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
