The question underneath all of them
“Is there an electrician who actually works in Gulfport and does this kind of job?” Assistants often found no electrician based in Gulfport, named firms from Tampa and St. Pete, and could not confirm they did the specific job.
What your Gulfport electrical page has to explain
The Gulfport electrical sample is small, so read it as an early look. The answers agree on the main problem. Assistants searched for an electrician in Gulfport and mostly found listings for the wider St. Petersburg area. Some firms had Tampa addresses, and an answer noted Tampa is a drive from Gulfport. Customers were told to ask each company whether it travels there.
The jobs asked here were specific: breaker replacement, aluminum wiring, pendant lights, smart home wiring, whole-house surge protectors and generator transfer switches. Assistants often found an electrician’s page that listed panels and lighting but not the job asked. They told customers to ask whether the company does aluminum work, smart home wiring or full rewires. A Gulfport page should list each job by name.
Permits came up often. Answers about breaker and panel work said it usually needs a permit, and told customers to ask who pulls it and who schedules the inspection. Some named the City of Gulfport or the City of St. Petersburg. A Gulfport electrical page should say which jobs need a permit and whether the cost is in the quote.
What the assistants looked for before recommending anyone
We read all 30 answers to see what the assistants looked for before naming a company for electrical work in Gulfport, FL, what they told the customer to ask, and what they said they couldn’t find.
What the assistants told customers to ask
Most common first:
Who pulls the permit and books the inspection?
Answers about breakers, panels, surge protectors and new wiring told customers to ask whether a permit is needed and who pulls it. Some asked who schedules the inspection and whether it fits the customer’s timeline.
60% of the answers (18 of 30) brought this up.
Ask whether a permit is needed, since panel work often requires one.
Will a licensed electrician do the work?
For new circuits, panels or wiring, assistants told customers to ask for a licensed electrician and proof of Florida licensing and insurance. Some also asked for references when a company had no reviews.
53% of the answers (16 of 30) brought this up.
Ask for a licensed electrician, an itemized estimate, and confirmation that permits will be handled if needed.
What does the written quote cover?
Assistants told customers to get the price in writing and check what it covered. For a pendant light, that meant the fixture, a new box or brace, and wiring. For a breaker, it meant labor, permit and inspection.
43% of the answers (13 of 30) brought this up.
Ask for a written quote that covers the fixture, any wiring and whether a permit is needed.

27% of the answers (8 of 30) brought this up.
I couldn't find an electrician based in Gulfport itself, and the searches didn't turn up verified phone numbers.
Does the electrician do this exact job?
Many answers named an electrician and then said its page did not show the job asked. For aluminum wiring, they told customers to ask whether the company does a pigtail repair or a full rewire.
20% of the answers (6 of 30) brought this up.
I couldn't confirm that it installs fixtures, so ask when you call.
What kind of surge protection, and will they check the grounding?

Ask whether they'll also add protection for sensitive electronics.
What the assistants couldn’t find
In 12 of the 30 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 12 of its 12, ChatGPT in 0 of its 12 and Google AI Mode in 0 of its 6. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:
- A phone number or other way to reach the company: 8 answers
- Reviews it could check: 5 answers
- Whether the company serves the customer’s town or ZIP code: 5 answers
Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 12 of its 12 answers about Gulfport (100%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Gulfport in 5 (42%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 40% and 5% for electrical.
For an electrician that works in Gulfport, this is an opening. Assistants often could not confirm anyone was based in or served Gulfport, and phone numbers were what they most often could not find. A page that names Gulfport and 33707 and gives a working number answers both.
I didn't find a reliable phone number for any of them, so use the contact info on each website.
Where the assistants sent people
Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 24 ChatGPT and Claude answers about electrical work in Gulfport, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:
- A contractor’s own website: 100% (24 answers)
- A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 42% (10 answers)
- A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 29% (7 answers)
- An official license lookup: 8% (2 answers)
A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read.
Google AI Mode works differently. In 67% of its 6 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Going further: let assistants see real openings
For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?
Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.
We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

How we got these numbers
The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 30 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between October 9 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Gulfport or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.
The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
