The question underneath all of them
“Which electrician actually covers Oldsmar and has done this kind of job before?” Answers favored electricians with a page that named Oldsmar, then asked whether each had done the exact job and would pull the permit.
What your Oldsmar electrical page has to explain
The Oldsmar electrical sample is small, so read it as a first look. When an electrician had its own Oldsmar page, answers often cited it and said what that page listed. When a company's page did not name Oldsmar, assistants told customers to confirm it covered their address. Several companies the answers named were based in Tampa, Palm Harbor or Land O' Lakes.
The questions were for specific jobs: a breaker replacement, aluminum wiring, pendant lights, a whole-house surge protector, smart-home wiring and a generator transfer switch. Answers often found an electrician but could not tell whether it did that job. For aluminum wiring, they could not confirm anyone in Oldsmar advertised it. An Oldsmar electrical page should name each job it does there.
Permits came up across many of the jobs asked here. Some answers told customers to make sure the electrician pulls permits through the City of Oldsmar. Others told them to ask whether the quote includes the permit and inspection. For aluminum wiring, one answer asked whether the finished work would satisfy the customer's insurer. The page should say how permits are handled.

What the assistants told customers to ask

I didn't confirm that any of these three has aluminum-specific experience, so ask each one directly.
Does the written quote name the parts?

Ask for a written quote that names the breaker type and amperage.

What the assistants couldn’t find
In 11 of the 30 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 11 of its 12, ChatGPT in 0 of its 12 and Google AI Mode in 0 of its 6. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:
- A phone number or other way to reach the company: 8 answers
- Reviews it could check: 6 answers
- Whether the company serves the customer’s town or ZIP code: 3 answers
Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 11 of its 12 answers about Oldsmar (92%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Oldsmar in 3 (25%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 40% and 5% for electrical.
For an electrician that serves Oldsmar, this is an opening. Assistants most often could not find a phone number, and often could not find reviews they trusted. A page that names Oldsmar, gives a working number and links to current reviews answers both.
I couldn't confirm any Oldsmar electrician that specifically advertises aluminum wiring replacement.
Where the assistants sent people
Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 24 ChatGPT and Claude answers about electrical work in Oldsmar, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:
- A contractor’s own website: 100% (24 answers)
- A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 33% (8 answers)
- A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 12% (3 answers)
- An official license lookup: 8% (2 answers)
A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read.
Google AI Mode works differently. In 67% of its 6 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Going further: let assistants see real openings
For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?
Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.
We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

How we got these numbers
The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 30 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between October 9 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Oldsmar or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.
The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
