The question underneath all of them

“Is there a licensed electrician based near me in Tarpon Springs, and who will actually show up?” Tarpon Springs electrical answers sorted electricians by whether they were based in town or in Palm Harbor and Holiday, then checked the license and the permit.

What your Tarpon Springs electrical page has to explain

Tarpon Springs is one of the largest towns in this research, and its electrical answers look much like the others. Assistants rarely said no electrician served the town. Instead they noted where each one was based, often naming Palm Harbor, Holiday, New Port Richey or Dunedin. Some answers even described 34689 as Holiday or as part of Pasco County. A Tarpon Springs page should say plainly that it serves Tarpon Springs in Pinellas County.

Assistants were wary of listings that did not name a real local company. Some flagged pages that shared a phone number with other names, or services that pass the job to whichever contractor pays them. They told customers to ask who would actually come to the door and what license that person holds. A Tarpon Springs electrician’s page should name the company, its license and the people who do the work.

Permits came up for panels, rewiring, generators and new circuits. Answers told customers to ask whether the electrician pulls the permit with the City of Tarpon Springs or Pinellas County, depending on the address, and schedules the inspection. For old panels and wiring, they also asked about paperwork for the insurer. The page should cover both.

What the assistants looked for before recommending anyone

We read all 1,524 answers to see what the assistants looked for before naming a company for electrical work in Tarpon Springs, FL, what they told the customer to ask, and what they said they couldn’t find.

What the assistants told customers to ask

Most common first:

Is the electrician based in Tarpon Springs or close by?

Can the customer check the electrical license?

Many answers told customers to ask for the Florida electrical contractor license number and look it up on the state site. Some said to confirm the record reads current and active, and noted pages that listed no license at all.

34% of the answers (512 of 1,524) brought this up.

Ask for their Florida electrical contractor license number.

— Claude, asked “Emergency electrical repair near me — I'm in 34689. Who do you recommend?”, September 19, 2026

Who pulls the permit, the city or the county one?

For Federal Pacific or Zinsco panels, aluminum wiring and knob-and-tube, answers told customers to ask for a certificate or written report their insurer would accept. Some mentioned four-point inspections for insurance or a home sale.

7% of the answers (106 of 1,524) brought this up.

Who will actually come to the house?

Assistants flagged some listings as lead pages that pass the job on, rather than a local company. They told customers to confirm who would show up and whether that electrician is licensed and insured.

They may dispatch a subcontractor rather than answer directly, so confirm who's actually showing up before booking.

What the assistants couldn’t find

In 227 of the 1,524 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 213 of its 522, ChatGPT in 12 of its 634 and Google AI Mode in 2 of its 368. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:

  • A phone number or other way to reach the company: 140 answers
  • Reviews it could check: 67 answers
  • A license or insurance it could check: 39 answers
  • When the company could do the work: 32 answers
  • Whether the company serves the customer’s town or ZIP code: 27 answers
  • A price or how the job is priced: 21 answers

Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 213 of its 522 answers about Tarpon Springs (41%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Tarpon Springs in 27 (5%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 40% and 5% for electrical.

In Tarpon Springs, assistants most often could not find a phone number for the electricians they named, and often could not check their reviews. Tarpon Springs is one of the largest towns in this research, and its gaps look like theirs. A Tarpon Springs electrical page can answer both with one working number and links to recent reviews.

I didn't pull phone numbers because I couldn't confirm them from the search results.

— Claude, asked “Looking for someone to do AFCI breaker installation in 34689 next month. Any recommendations?”, September 20, 2026

Where the assistants sent people

Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 1,156 ChatGPT and Claude answers about electrical work in Tarpon Springs, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:

  • A contractor’s own website: 96% (1,112 answers)
  • A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 58% (666 answers)
  • An official license lookup: 14% (163 answers)
  • A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 10% (120 answers)
  • A Google search or Maps page: 3% (30 answers)

A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read.

Google AI Mode works differently. In 75% of its 368 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Going further: let assistants see real openings

For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?

Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.

We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

How we got these numbers

The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 1,524 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between September 2 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Tarpon Springs or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.

The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
