The question underneath all of them
“Which electrician will come out to Treasure Island and actually do this kind of wiring job?” Assistants named electricians serving the beach communities, but rarely confirmed one served 33706 or did the exact job asked.
What your Treasure Island electrical page has to explain
The Treasure Island sample is small, so treat it as a first look. Assistants often described the electricians they found as serving the beach communities, then said they could not confirm service to 33706 itself. Some said plainly they could not give a verified top pick. An electrician that works on the island can remove that doubt by naming Treasure Island and 33706 on its page.
The jobs asked here were specific: aluminum wiring, smart home wiring, a whole-house surge protector, pendant lights and breaker replacement. Assistants often found an electrician whose page mentioned panel upgrades but not the job asked about. They told customers to ask whether the company had done aluminum work or worked with their smart devices before. The page should list these jobs by name.
Permits came up in most of these jobs. Answers told customers to ask who pulls the permit, whether the inspection is in the price, and what the written quote covers. For a surge protector, they asked about grounding and panel space. A Treasure Island electrical page can explain which jobs need a permit and what the quote lists.
What the assistants looked for before recommending anyone
We read all 30 answers to see what the assistants looked for before naming a company for electrical work in Treasure Island, FL, what they told the customer to ask, and what they said they couldn’t find.
What the assistants told customers to ask
Most common first:
Is the electrician licensed, and can the customer check?
Answers told customers to ask for a licensed electrician, get the state license number and look it up on the DBPR site. Some said a directory did not list a license at all.
63% of the answers (19 of 30) brought this up.
I couldn't verify licenses or current availability, so check those before you hire anyone.
Has the electrician done this exact job before?
Assistants often found an electrician whose page did not mention aluminum wiring, smart home work or surge protection. They told customers to ask whether the company had done that job before booking.
50% of the answers (15 of 30) brought this up.
Ask each company whether they've done aluminum branch-circuit work specifically.
What does the written quote include?
Assistants told customers to get a written, itemized quote and the total installed price. For a breaker, they asked whether the quote was for one breaker or the whole panel.
50% of the answers (15 of 30) brought this up.
Ask for an itemized written quote that separates parts from labor.
Does the electrician serve Treasure Island itself?
Answers often named electricians who serve the beach communities in general. They then said they could not confirm service to 33706, and told customers to ask whether the electrician would come to their block.
43% of the answers (13 of 30) brought this up.
The searches turned up company marketing pages, not independent reviews, and none of the companies confirmed they serve that ZIP code.
Who pulls the permit, and is the inspection included?
For breakers, rewiring and surge protectors, answers told customers to ask whether the job needs a permit and who pulls it. They also asked whether the inspection was in the price.
33% of the answers (10 of 30) brought this up.
Ask whether each includes the permit and inspection.
How soon can someone come out?
Some questions asked for a breaker replacement the next morning or a fixture hung by a set date. Assistants could not see who had an opening and told customers to call and ask for a start time.
20% of the answers (6 of 30) brought this up.
Ask whether they have after-hours or next-morning availability.
What the assistants couldn’t find
In 12 of the 30 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 12 of its 12, ChatGPT in 0 of its 12 and Google AI Mode in 0 of its 6. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:
- A phone number or other way to reach the company: 7 answers
- Whether the company serves the customer’s town or ZIP code: 5 answers
- Reviews it could check: 4 answers
- When the company could do the work: 3 answers
Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 12 of its 12 answers about Treasure Island (100%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Treasure Island in 5 (42%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 40% and 5% for electrical.
For an electrician that works in Treasure Island, this is an opening. Assistants often could not confirm anyone served 33706, and rarely found a phone number or independent reviews they trusted. A page that names the island, gives a working number and links to reviews answers all three.
I couldn't find a Treasure Island electrician with strong independent reviews.
Where the assistants sent people
Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 24 ChatGPT and Claude answers about electrical work in Treasure Island, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:
- A contractor’s own website: 100% (24 answers)
- A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 46% (11 answers)
- A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 21% (5 answers)
- A Google search or Maps page: 17% (4 answers)
A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read.
Google AI Mode works differently. In 33% of its 6 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Going further: let assistants see real openings
For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?
Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.
We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

How we got these numbers
The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 30 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between October 9 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Treasure Island or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.
The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
