The question underneath all of them
“Will any contractor actually come out to Treasure Island, and can I check them before I call?” Across HVAC, plumbing and electrical, assistants often could not confirm anyone served 33706, so they named Pinellas County contractors and told customers to ask.
What your Treasure Island page has to explain
The questions here covered HVAC, plumbing and electrical work; no roofing jobs were asked about in Treasure Island. In all three trades, assistants could not confirm that a contractor served the town far more often than in the largest research towns. They often named contractors from St. Petersburg, St. Pete Beach or Madeira Beach, then told the customer to ask whether they come to the island.
When a contractor was found, its page often left out the job asked about. A plumber did not mention sump pumps, an electrician did not mention aluminum wiring, an HVAC company did not mention ductwork. Assistants told customers to ask before counting on that company. A Treasure Island page should name each trade and the specific jobs done on the island.
The same checks came up in every trade. Answers told customers to look up the Florida license on the state DBPR site, get the price in writing and ask whether the permit and inspection are included. Some answers also raised salt air and storm power outages near the water. A Treasure Island page can say what the contractor does about each.
What the assistants looked for before recommending anyone
We read all 102 answers to see what the assistants looked for before naming a company for home services in Treasure Island, FL, what they told the customer to ask, and what they said they couldn’t find.
What the assistants told customers to ask
Most common first:

Ask for the license number and proof of insurance.

What the assistants couldn’t find
In 42 of the 102 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 42 of its 42, ChatGPT in 0 of its 42 and Google AI Mode in 0 of its 18. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:
- A phone number or other way to reach the company: 28 answers
- Whether the company serves the customer’s town or ZIP code: 15 answers
- Reviews it could check: 14 answers
- When the company could do the work: 7 answers
Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 42 of its 42 answers about Treasure Island (100%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Treasure Island in 15 (36%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 40% and 4%.
For a contractor that works on the island, this is an opening. Assistants often could not confirm anyone served Treasure Island, and most often could not find a phone number. A page for each trade that names the island and 33706 and gives a working number answers both.
I couldn't find a Treasure Island contractor that independent reviews single out as the best, so I can't give you one top pick.
Where the assistants sent people
Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 84 ChatGPT and Claude answers about home services in Treasure Island, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:
- A contractor’s own website: 100% (84 answers)
- A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 37% (31 answers)
- A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 8% (7 answers)
- A Google search or Maps page: 5% (4 answers)
- An official license lookup: 5% (4 answers)
A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read.
Google AI Mode works differently. In 56% of its 18 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Going further: let assistants see real openings
For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?
Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.
We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

How we got these numbers
The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 102 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between October 9 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Treasure Island or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.
The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
