Who AI assistants recommend for home services in Seminole, FL

We asked ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode for home services in Seminole, FL recommendations 5,697 times. Here is what they checked across HVAC, plumbing, electrical and roofing before naming a Seminole contractor.

The short answer

In every trade, assistants answering for Seminole first sorted out who was really local. They set aside companies from Seminole County, near Orlando, skipped templated pages that repeat for many towns, and noted which firms were based in town. Then they told customers to check the state license, ask for current insurance and ask who pulls the permit.

What people actually asked

We asked 537 different questions here between September 2 and October 14, 2026. These are the six asked most, word for word, with how many of the 5,697 answers each produced:

  • “Who should I call for whole-house fan installation in Seminole, FL?”25 answers
  • “Whole-house fan installation near me — I'm in Seminole, FL 33772. Who do you recommend?”22 answers
  • “I need a full AC system replacement in 33772. I'm looking to get this done in two weeks. Who should I get quotes from?”17 answers, asked with five different timings: in two weeks, in the next few weeks, sometime this month, before the end of the month and next month
  • “Looking for someone to do an AC tune-up in Seminole, FL 33772 sometime this month. Any recommendations?”17 answers, asked with four different timings: sometime this month, before the end of the month, in two weeks and next month
  • “HVAC company near me — I'm in Seminole, FL. Who do you recommend?”16 answers
  • “How do I check that an electrician in Seminole, FL 33772 actually holds a valid electrical contractor license and is insured? And which ones near me genuinely check out?”16 answers

The other 531 questions asked for other jobs or worded the request differently. All 5,697 answers were about Seminole, in Pinellas County (ZIP codes 33708, 33772, 33775, 33776, 33777 and 33778). By assistant: ChatGPT 2,360, Claude 1,968 and Google AI Mode 1,369.

The questions covered 146 specific jobs. The most asked here, each with its own post:

The question underneath all of them

“Who is a real, licensed contractor here in Seminole, and how can I tell?” Across every trade, answers first made sure a company was in Seminole in Pinellas County and not a lead page, then checked its license and insurance.

What your Seminole page has to explain

The town’s name caused trouble in all four trades. Many answers said searches for Seminole returned companies from Seminole County, a different place near Orlando, and removed them. Some answers reminded customers that their Seminole is in Pinellas County, near Largo and St. Petersburg. Any contractor’s Seminole page should say Pinellas County plainly and list 33772, 33776 and 33777.

Lead pages were the second filter. Assistants often skipped sites that publish the same page for many towns, show a toll-free number and give no address. They said such pages may route the customer to a call center rather than a local company. Answers trusted a page more when it named the business, its license and where it was based.

Once a company looked real, the checks were the same across trades. Answers told customers to look up the license on the state DBPR site, and some pointed to Pinellas County’s contractor search too. Several said the state record does not show insurance, so customers should ask for a current certificate. For bigger jobs they asked who pulls the permit with Pinellas County or the city.

What the assistants looked for before recommending anyone

We read all 5,697 answers to see what the assistants looked for before naming a company for home services in Seminole, FL, what they told the customer to ask, and what they said they couldn’t find.

What the assistants told customers to ask

Most common first:

Is the company based in Seminole or a neighboring town?

Answers across trades noted which companies were based right in Seminole and which came from Largo, Pinellas Park, St. Petersburg or Clearwater. Both kinds were recommended, often with the base spelled out.

26% of the answers (1,483 of 5,697) brought this up.

Does the license match the company named on the page?

Every trade’s answers told customers to get the license number and check it on the state DBPR site. A few added Pinellas County’s own contractor records as a second check.

25% of the answers (1,397 of 5,697) brought this up.

Confirm they're licensed with the Florida DBPR and carry liability + workers' comp insurance — ask for proof directly.

— Claude, asked “Roofer near me — I'm in 33772. Who do you recommend?”, September 3, 2026

Is the contractor in Seminole, Pinellas County, or Seminole County?

In every trade, answers removed results from Seminole County, near Orlando. Some told customers to confirm a company actually works in Pinellas County before booking.

10% of the answers (588 of 5,697) brought this up.

Ask whether the contractor is eligible to work in Pinellas County and whether insurance is current.

— ChatGPT, asked “How do I check that an electrician in Seminole, FL 33772 actually holds a valid electrical contractor license and is insured? And which ones near me genuinely check out?”, September 3, 2026

Can the contractor show current insurance?

Answers told customers to ask for proof of liability insurance and, for roofers and larger jobs, workers’ comp. Some said a screenshot is not enough and the certificate should come from the agent.

7% of the answers (420 of 5,697) brought this up.

Ask for a current certificate of insurance sent from the insurance agent, not just a screenshot.

— ChatGPT, asked “How do I check that an HVAC company in 33772 actually holds a valid HVAC contractor license and is insured? And which ones near me genuinely check out?”, September 3, 2026

Is the Pinellas County permit and inspection part of the job?

For roofs, panels, system replacements and repiping, answers told customers to ask who pulls the permit and whether the final inspection is in the price. Many named Pinellas County’s permit rules.

7% of the answers (402 of 5,697) brought this up.

Ask whether the quote includes a permit and final inspection — Pinellas County typically requires both for this kind of work.

— Claude, asked “Who should I call for knob-and-tube wiring replacement in 33772?”, September 7, 2026

Is it a local company or a page that repeats for every town?

Assistants skipped pages that looked templated across many towns or listed a toll-free number with no address. They told customers to confirm who would actually come to the house.

7% of the answers (376 of 5,697) brought this up.

Their Seminole page shows local verified reviews, but confirm who the actual installer will be.

— ChatGPT, asked “An HVAC company in 33772 quoted me $8,500 for a full AC system replacement. Is that a fair price, and who else should I be calling for a comparison this week?”, September 11, 2026

What the assistants couldn’t find

In 899 of the 5,697 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 852 of its 1,968, ChatGPT in 43 of its 2,360 and Google AI Mode in 4 of its 1,369. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:

  • A phone number or other way to reach the company: 490 answers
  • Reviews it could check: 237 answers
  • A license or insurance it could check: 122 answers
  • When the company could do the work: 117 answers
  • Whether the company serves the customer’s town or ZIP code: 95 answers
  • A price or how the job is priced: 70 answers
  • A warranty: 4 answers

Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 852 of its 1,968 answers about Seminole (43%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Seminole in 95 (5%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 40% and 4%.

Seminole is one of the largest research towns, and across trades its gaps match that group: phone numbers first, then reviews, then the license. Any trade’s Seminole page can answer all three with a working number, links to reviews and a visible license number.

No public phone listed — use their site's contact form.

— Claude, asked “Looking for someone to do dishwasher installation in Seminole, FL next month. Any recommendations?”, September 5, 2026

Where the assistants sent people

Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 4,328 ChatGPT and Claude answers about home services in Seminole, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:

  • A contractor’s own website: 96% (4,150 answers)
  • A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 58% (2,526 answers)
  • An official license lookup: 9% (399 answers)
  • A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 7% (282 answers)
  • A Google search or Maps page: under 1% (32 answers)

A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read.

Google AI Mode works differently. In 77% of its 1,369 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

The checks behind every recommendation, applied to home services in Seminole, FL

Can you come out when the customer needs you?

Questions asked for help today, tomorrow morning or within a few weeks. Assistants could not see schedules and told customers to ask for a real arrival window.

117 of the 5,697 answers about home services in Seminole, FL, 109 of them from Claude, said the assistant couldn’t confirm this. In our July–August study across eight trades, it cost a business its place in 185 of the 657 conversations where it came up.

Can the customer reach a person?

In each of the four trades, phone numbers led the gaps. Answers also distrusted numbers on lead pages and Orlando-area listings.

490 of the 5,697 answers about home services in Seminole, FL, 485 of them from Claude, said the assistant couldn’t confirm this. In our July–August study across eight trades, it cost a business its place in 147 of the 290 conversations where it came up.

What do recent customers say?

After phone numbers, reviews were what answers most often lacked. Assistants often saw ratings only on directories and told customers to read recent Google reviews themselves.

237 of the 5,697 answers about home services in Seminole, FL, 235 of them from Claude, said the assistant couldn’t confirm this. In our July–August study across eight trades, it cost a business its place in 139 of the 569 conversations where it came up.

Your Seminole page checklist

Work through this list on your Seminole page. Each item answers something the assistants looked for above.

  1. Use “Seminole” in the page title, the main heading and the first paragraph.
  2. Give your address if you are in Seminole, or say which nearby town you work from and that Seminole is in your area.
  3. Show each license number with a link to the DBPR lookup, and give the legal business name it belongs to.
  4. Put Seminole, Pinellas County, near the top of the page, with your Seminole ZIP codes.
  5. Name the insurance you carry and say your agent will send a current certificate on request.
  6. For each trade, say which Seminole jobs need a permit, that you pull it, and whether the inspection is in the quote.
  7. Name your business, your license and your base town on the Seminole page, and say who does the work.
  8. For each trade, say how soon you can usually reach a Seminole address and whether you take urgent calls.
  9. Use one local number across every trade’s Seminole page, matching your Google listing.
  10. Link to your Google and BBB reviews, and point to recent ones from Seminole customers.

Going further: let assistants see real openings

For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?

Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.

We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

Questions owners ask

How do I keep AI assistants from confusing my business with Seminole County?

Say Seminole, Pinellas County, on your page and list your Seminole ZIP codes. Answers in every trade said searches mixed in companies from Seminole County, near Orlando, and they removed those companies. A page that names the county leaves no doubt.

What made AI assistants skip a Seminole contractor’s website?

Pages built from one template for many towns, with a toll-free number and no street address, were the ones answers set aside. They said such pages may hand the customer to a call center. Your business name, license, address or base town and a local number make the page read as a real company.

Should my Seminole page say where my business is based?

Yes. Answers often said when a company was based right in Seminole and when it came from Largo, Pinellas Park or St. Petersburg. Both kinds were named, usually with the base spelled out. Saying it yourself means the assistant does not have to guess.

Which AI assistants did you test?

ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode. Between September 2 and October 14, 2026, they answered 5,697 questions about home services in Seminole, FL: ChatGPT 2,360, Claude 1,968, Google AI Mode 1,369.

Will these changes guarantee a recommendation?

No. Nobody can promise that. These changes supply what the assistants were looking for in our research. Whether they move recommendations for your business is something to measure after they go live.

How we got these numbers

The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 5,697 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between September 2 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Seminole or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.

The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
