The short answer
For Seminole roofing, assistants asked for proof first: the Florida roofing license, liability insurance and workers’ comp, ideally sent by the insurance agent. They told customers with a leak to ask for a tarp right away, and customers with an insurer to ask for a written, photo-backed report the carrier will accept.

The question underneath all of them
“Which roofer in Seminole is licensed and insured, and will give me papers my insurer accepts?” Answers about Seminole roofers asked for proof of workers’ comp, the roofing license, a tarp when it leaks and an inspection report an insurer accepts.
What your Seminole roofing page has to explain
Insurance ran through Seminole roofing answers in two ways. One was the roofer’s own coverage: answers told customers to ask for a certificate showing liability and workers’ comp, sent from the agent. The other was the homeowner’s insurer. Customers asked for roof inspections and certifications, and assistants told them to confirm the report format their carrier accepts.
Leaks and storm damage drew urgent advice. Assistants told customers to ask for a tarp or temporary repair first and the permanent fix later. They warned against signing anything or paying a large deposit before checking who would actually do the work. Some told customers to call their insurer before any permanent repair after a storm.
Gutters, fascia and soffits came up as well as roofs. Some answers said gutter trouble in Seminole often hides wood rot behind the fascia, and told customers to ask whether the roofer would check for it. Others noted that a company listed for Seminole County was near Orlando. A Seminole roofing page should name Pinellas County and the jobs it takes, small repairs included.

Can the roofer prove it carries workers’ comp?

11% of the answers (138 of 1,214) brought this up.
Ask for a certificate of insurance covering general liability and workers' comp, and confirm it with the insurer.
What the assistants couldn’t find
In 194 of the 1,214 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 176 of its 416, ChatGPT in 16 of its 505 and Google AI Mode in 2 of its 293. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:
- A phone number or other way to reach the company: 102 answers
- Reviews it could check: 33 answers
- When the company could do the work: 29 answers
- A license or insurance it could check: 26 answers
- Whether the company serves the customer’s town or ZIP code: 16 answers
- A price or how the job is priced: 7 answers
Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 176 of its 416 answers about Seminole (42%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Seminole in 16 (4%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 40% and 3% for roofing.
Seminole roofing answers missed what the other large towns’ answers missed: a phone number above all, then reviews and who could come soon. A roofer’s page that shows one working number, current reviews and how fast a tarp crew arrives answers those.
I didn't pull phone numbers because I couldn't verify them.
Where the assistants sent people
Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 921 ChatGPT and Claude answers about roofing work in Seminole, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:
- A contractor’s own website: 98% (903 answers)
- A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 55% (509 answers)
- An official license lookup: 12% (106 answers)
- A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 6% (55 answers)
- A Google search or Maps page: 2% (14 answers)
A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read.
Google AI Mode works differently. In 78% of its 293 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Going further: let assistants see real openings
For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?
Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.
We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

How we got these numbers
The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 1,214 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between September 2 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Seminole or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.
The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
