The questions covered 32 specific jobs. The most asked here, each with its own post:

The question underneath all of them

“Which Dunedin roofer is licensed, insured and will document the damage for my insurer?” Answers noted which roofers had a Dunedin address, then told customers to check the roofing license, insurance certificate and inspection photos.

What your Dunedin roofing page has to explain

Roof inspections, full replacements and leaks led the Dunedin roofing questions. Assistants seldom said no roofer served the town. They did set apart roofers headquartered in Dunedin from those in Clearwater or Palm Harbor, and often mentioned family-owned firms and how long each had operated. A Dunedin roofing page should say where the company is based and since when.

Credentials drew a lot of attention. Answers told customers to ask for the Florida roofing license number and check it on the state DBPR site. They also said to ask for a certificate of liability and workers’ comp insurance sent straight from the insurer. The page should give the license number and say a certificate is available on request.

For storm, hail and leak jobs, assistants told customers to ask for dated photos, a written report and papers an insurer would accept. Some warned that free inspections can be sales pitches, and to be wary of anyone pushing a full replacement before the leak is stopped. Answers to ice dam questions said those are not a Dunedin problem.

What the assistants couldn’t find

In 170 of the 1,216 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 152 of its 419, ChatGPT in 18 of its 505 and Google AI Mode in 0 of its 292. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:

  • A phone number or other way to reach the company: 95 answers
  • Reviews it could check: 33 answers
  • A license or insurance it could check: 26 answers
  • When the company could do the work: 26 answers
  • Whether the company serves the customer’s town or ZIP code: 11 answers
  • A price or how the job is priced: 9 answers

Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 152 of its 419 answers about Dunedin (36%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Dunedin in 11 (3%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 40% and 3% for roofing.

For Dunedin roofers, assistants most often could not find a phone number, then could not verify reviews or confirm a license. One noted that roofers rarely publish prices, so a page with a working number, a license link and starting prices stands out on each of these.

None of what I found shows actual prices, and roofers don't publish them.

— Claude, asked “Who is the cheapest roofer in Dunedin, FL that is still trustworthy? I need this done this week and I'm on a tight budget.”, September 21, 2026

Where the assistants sent people

Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 924 ChatGPT and Claude answers about roofing work in Dunedin, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:

  • A contractor’s own website: 95% (878 answers)
  • A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 61% (568 answers)
  • An official license lookup: 10% (97 answers)
  • A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 6% (57 answers)
  • A Google search or Maps page: under 1% (2 answers)

A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read.

Google AI Mode works differently. In 68% of its 292 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Your Dunedin roofing page checklist

Work through this list on your Dunedin roofing page. Each item answers something the assistants looked for above.

  1. Use “Dunedin roofing” in the page title, the main heading and the first paragraph.
  2. Give your Dunedin address if you have one, say how long you have worked here, and list 34697 and 34698.
  3. Show your Florida roofing license number with a link to the DBPR lookup, and offer an insurance certificate sent from your insurer.
  4. Say whether you tarp Dunedin roofs the same day, what it costs and how long it is meant to hold.
  5. Say what records you give after storm work, such as photos, a damage report or wind-mitigation papers, and whether you meet adjusters.
  6. Describe what a Dunedin roof inspection includes, what it costs, and show a sample report with personal details removed.
  7. State your workmanship warranty for repairs and replacements, and say which manufacturer warranties apply.
  8. Say how soon you can usually get to a Dunedin roof for a leak, and how far out replacements are booked.
  9. Show one working phone number on the Dunedin roofing page that matches your Google listing.
  10. Link to your Google and BBB reviews, and point to recent ones from Dunedin roofs.

Going further: let assistants see real openings

For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?

Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.

We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

Questions owners ask

Should my Dunedin roofing page show sample inspection photos?

It can help. Answers told customers to ask whether an inspection includes photos and a written report, and some said free inspections can be sales pitches. Showing a sample report, with personal details removed, lets the customer see what they will get.

Should a Dunedin roofer explain insurance paperwork on the page?

If you provide it, yes. For storm and hail damage, answers told customers to ask for photos, a written damage report and papers the insurer accepts. Some warned against signing over insurance benefits too early, so describe only what you actually do.

What did AI assistants say about ice dam removal in Dunedin?

They said ice dams are a cold-climate problem and almost certainly not what a Dunedin homeowner is seeing. They told customers to ask a roofer about a leak or gutter blockage instead. A Dunedin page does not need an ice dam service, but it should explain leak repair clearly.

Which AI assistants did you test?

ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode. Between September 2 and October 14, 2026, they answered 1,216 questions about roofing work in Dunedin, FL: ChatGPT 505, Claude 419, Google AI Mode 292.

Will these changes guarantee a recommendation?

No. Nobody can promise that. These changes supply what the assistants were looking for in our research. Whether they move recommendations for your business is something to measure after they go live.

How we got these numbers

The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 1,216 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between September 2 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Dunedin or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.

The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
