The question underneath all of them

“Which roofer has a Palm Harbor office, a license I can check and a crew for a leak?” Answers here noted roofers with a Palm Harbor office and a listed license number, then told customers to ask about tarping, insurance reports and proof of insurance.

What your Palm Harbor roofing page has to explain

Roofing answers here often mentioned a local Palm Harbor office or street address next to a company’s name. Others came from Dunedin, Clearwater, Tarpon Springs or across Tampa Bay. Assistants sometimes told customers to ask whether an out-of-area roofer would take a Palm Harbor job. A roofing page should say where the office is and name the Palm Harbor ZIP codes it serves.

License numbers came up often. Many answers printed the number shown on a roofer’s site and told the customer to verify it on the state DBPR lookup. When a page showed no license number, assistants said so and told customers to ask for one. A Palm Harbor roofing page should display the license number where it is easy to find.

Leak and storm questions asked for help tonight or this weekend. Answers named roofers that advertised emergency tarping but could not confirm a crew was free. Insurance came up as well. Assistants mentioned wind mitigation reports and roof certifications, and some warned customers not to sign over an insurance claim. The page should describe what you provide after a storm and how soon.

What the assistants couldn’t find

In 174 of the 1,217 answers, the assistant said it couldn’t find or confirm something it needed about a company. By assistant: Claude in 158 of its 419, ChatGPT in 14 of its 505 and Google AI Mode in 2 of its 293. As we asked it, Claude usually says what it couldn’t confirm; ChatGPT and Google AI Mode seldom do, so these counts mostly show what Claude couldn’t find. Most often:

  • A phone number or other way to reach the company: 108 answers
  • When the company could do the work: 39 answers
  • A license or insurance it could check: 33 answers
  • Reviews it could check: 33 answers
  • Whether the company serves the customer’s town or ZIP code: 10 answers
  • A price or how the job is priced: 9 answers
  • A warranty: 5 answers

Compared with the larger towns: Claude said it couldn’t confirm something in 158 of its 419 answers about Palm Harbor (38%), and couldn’t confirm that any company served Palm Harbor in 10 (2%). In the eight largest towns we studied, those figures were 40% and 3% for roofing.

Palm Harbor roofing answers most often lacked a phone number, then who could come out soon, then license and review details. A page with a working number, the license number, current reviews and typical response times answers each one.

I didn't find phone numbers for the roofers in my search, and I haven't independently verified any of these companies' reviews.

Where the assistants sent people

Each answer linked to the pages the assistant relied on. Of the 924 ChatGPT and Claude answers about roofing work in Palm Harbor, FL, this is how many linked at least once to each kind of site:

  • A contractor’s own website: 98% (905 answers)
  • A directory or review site such as Yelp, Angi or the BBB: 55% (509 answers)
  • An official license lookup: 13% (120 answers)
  • A manufacturer or home-improvement guide: 9% (81 answers)
  • A Google search or Maps page: under 1% (1 answer)

A contractor’s own website was the page linked most often, so your site is usually what the customer is sent to read.

Google AI Mode works differently. In 75% of its 293 answers, the links opened Google’s own listing for a business rather than a website. There, your Google Business Profile is the page the customer sees, so it needs the same facts as your site.

Going further: let assistants see real openings

For an urgent job, “open now” doesn’t answer the customer’s real question: can the right technician get to this address within the next few hours?

Merchant Context builds custom integrations with scheduling software so customers and AI assistants can read your current availability. Where your system records the job type, service area, duration and crew capacity, the integration can show those details with each opening, so an assistant can match it to the request instead of guessing.

We scope each connection to the software and data you actually have. A displayed opening is not a confirmed booking: the customer still confirms through your normal booking process, and the information is only useful while it is fresh.

How we got these numbers

The questions, counts and quotes on this page come from the 1,217 answers ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode gave between September 2 and October 14, 2026. Every question named Palm Harbor or one of its ZIP codes. We collected them with software rather than the consumer apps, which can answer differently. We counted what each answer mentioned, what it said it couldn’t find and where it linked. Quotes never name a business.

The study figures come from an earlier set of assistant conversations in July and August 2026 across eight trades, coded for the reason each business was included or left out. Counts overlap and are never added together.
